Two photos.. Same person but different standards..
On the left shows no prep, no structure & turning up to Hyrox feeling like a fraud..
Unfit, frustrated, overworked… and if I’m honest, not practicing what I preach.
On the right, finishing the last few km of the Belfast Marathon (smiling)..
Still busy & still juggling life but showing up differently.
Here’s the truth most people don’t see…
I’m not “the finished product.” Believe me, I get tortured by the lads I work with 😂
I still overeat sometimes. I still lose motivation. I still have days where discipline slips.
But I’m better than I was and that’s the point. No more repeating the same mistakes. This is about building, improving and kicking on from here.
As coaches, we can get so caught up helping everyone else that we forget.. we’re important too & we need standards too.
I’ve got a wife. Two kids. Family I want to see more. Members who need support. Friends I want to spend time with. Football matches I want to go to. Life doesn’t slow down.
So it’s never been about having more time. It’s about having better intent.
I’m no different to any member I coach. Same struggles. Same excuses available. Same 24 hours.
The only difference now? I choose to show up more regularly than I did.
Wherever you’re at right now.. just be better than yesterday.
There is always a chance to be the best version of yourself on that day!
