We’re delighted to confirm that Marcus Brooker has re-signed with St Mary’s for the 2026/27 season following an outstanding first year as Backs Coach. Marcus will continue alongside Dan Brooker as Joint Head Coach, bringing his experience, vision, and ability to develop players and deliver an exciting brand of rugby.

After a season that saw us reach a Twickenham Final, finish league runners-up, and establish a high-scoring, attack-focused style of play, we’re determined to build on those achievements and take the club to the next level. Marcus - as Bristol Combination Backs Coach- adds further quality and expertise to our coaching setup

NEW HEAD COACH

Daniel Brooker

Message from the chairman “Dan Brooker takes charge as SMOB Head Coach, succeeding Ryan Price after making a significant impact alongside Marcus Brooker last season. Leading the forwards this year, Dan has overseen major improvements in our lineout, scrum, and breakdown, all of which have played a key role in our strong performances across the League, Vase, and National Cup campaigns.

I’ve seen clear development in so many players across both the 1st and 2nd XVs under Dan’s coaching, and I’m excited to see that progress continue into next season.”

Message from the new Head Coach: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the new challenge of Head Coach this season. We had a fantastic campaign last year, and the group of players we have is something special. After some well-deserved time off, we can’t wait to get started again.

We know there are a few areas and key positions where we need to strengthen and add depth, and hopefully a strong recruitment drive over the off-season will bring some new faces into the squad.

Having a strong support system through the 2nd Xv,led by Jack Farler, alongside the addition of Luke Slade as 1st Xv Manager, will be hugely important. Together, we hope to provide everyone involved with a professional matchday experience and continue building the club ethos and culture we want to see both on and off the pitch.

It’s an exciting time for the club, and I’m looking forward to working with the players, staff and supporters as we continue to move forward together.”
