Pomphrey Hill

A charity creating space for community to grow • Connect • Move • Celebrate • South Gloucestershire

Pomphrey Hill is a vibrant community hub dedicated to sport, wellbeing, and social connection. With modern facilities including a multi-room pavilion, licensed bar, and expansive outdoor spaces, it supports a wide range of activities—from grassroots football and cricket to fitness classes, parkruns, and private events.

At Pomphrey Hill, we believe the best ideas come from the people who use, support and care about this place.

That’s why throughout September we’ve been listening to our community and inviting people to help shape the future of Pomphrey Hill.

The conversations don’t stop here.

Becoming a community hub isn’t a single event or a short-term project. It’s an ongoing commitment to bringing people together, creating opportunities and building something that reflects the needs and ambitions of our community.

Thank you to everyone who has shared ideas, feedback and encouragement so far. We’ll bring together what we’ve heard, share the main themes and explain how people can stay involved.

This is just the beginning of the conversation. Because community has space to grow.

A community hub isn’t created by one organisation. It grows through the people, groups and ideas that come together within it.

As part of our listening campaign, we’re asking not only what you’d like to see at Pomphrey Hill, but what you could bring too.

Perhaps you have an idea for an activity, a skill you could share, time to volunteer, a group looking for space or an opportunity for us to work in partnership.

Whether you’re a resident, club, charity, community group or local business, we’d love to hear how we could build something together.

Tell us through our community listening form.

As part of our 500 Club, we’re pleased to introduce a new partnership between Pomphrey Hill and Utility Warehouse, working with local Utility Warehouse Partner Karen Watson to help people in our community see whether they could save money on their household bills.

Utility Warehouse brings a range of everyday household services together in one place, including energy, broadband, mobile and insurance. By bundling services together, you can make things simpler to manage and may be able to save money compared with having everything with separate providers.

Karen can offer a friendly, no-obligation review of your current services and talk you through the options available.

For every successful referral, Utility Warehouse will also make a donation to the Pomphrey Hill 500 Club, helping to support the facilities, activities and opportunities we provide for our local community

You can find out more or request a quick review by visiting this link: connectors.uw.co.uk/CN-MIUI

A great simple way to look at your household bills while also supporting us.

Join us on Friday 11 September for our Community Evening and help shape what comes next for Pomphrey Hill.

We’re building on our sporting heritage to become a community hub, but we want that future to be shaped with our community, not for our community.

Come along to meet the team, hear more about our ambition and share your ideas. We’ll be asking what you love about Pomphrey Hill, what else you’d like to see happening here and what you or a group you’re part of could bring.

Can’t make the evening? Our online listening form is open throughout September, so you can still be part of the conversation.

Pomphrey Hill was built on sport. Now, we’re building on that heritage to become a community hub.

A place where people can play, meet, connect, contribute and belong. A place where community has space to grow.

But we don’t want to decide what that future looks like on our own. Throughout September, we’re inviting local people, clubs, groups, businesses and organisations to share their thoughts and ideas.

What do you love about Pomphrey Hill? What would you like to see happen here? What could you, or a group you’re part of, bring to Pomphrey Hill?

We’re pleased to announce that Alex Withers has recently been appointed as Chairman.

Since joining the Board of Trustees, Alex has played a key role in supporting the charity's growth and development, most recently serving as Vice Chairman. With a strong passion for community, innovation and long-term sustainability, he is excited to lead the next chapter of Pomphrey Hill's journey as a thriving community hub.

As Pomphrey Hill continues its journey from a traditional sports venue to a thriving community hub, Alex will work alongside our trustees, staff, volunteers and partners to create opportunities for people to connect, contribute and thrive.

On his appointment, Alex said:

"I'm honoured to be appointed Chairman of Pomphrey Hill. Sport helped shape the organisation, but our future is about even more than that. We have a unique opportunity to create a place where people feel welcome, supported and connected, and I’m looking forward to continuing the great work we have been doing.
One of my priorities is listening. Over the coming months, I'd love to hear ideas, feedback and aspirations from everyone who uses and values Pomphrey Hill. Whether through our upcoming Community Evening, conversations around the site, or through other agreement with the charity, your voice can help shape what comes next.
If you would like to get in touch, please do email [email protected]"

Please join us in congratulating Alex on his appointment.
