So the season finally ended for our Under-12s girls this weekend as they enjoyed a great game of Footgolf at The Cambridge FootGolf Centre - Milton

Some excellent rounds from a lot of our players playing for the first time, birdies and pars galore!

It has been a big season for the girls, on and off the pitch. The step up to the A division was a big jump and an early heavy defeat against champions Nene Valley Football Club might have derailed the season but these girls are fighters and from then on were comptetive in every game, even if the result didnt go their way.

Some great team performances along the way with the squad put in maximium effort as they pitted themselves against the best teams in the region.

Congratualtions to all the award winners and to the whole team, coaches, parents, helpers and supporters who have given up their time to help these girls throughout the season.

🏆 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥-𝟭𝟭𝘀
The Under-11s went into our tournament with a large squad which meant we were able to have three teams in the group stage. The black team made it into the final against the top topping Huntingdon Town Rowdies Youth but produced a great display to take the title with a narrow 1-0 win!

👏 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥-𝟭𝟰𝘀
The Under-14s went into their last home tournament looking to go out with a bang, boasting two strong teams. There was some tough competition from local teams including Waterbeach Colts FC, Histon hornets fc and SharpShooters FC Cambridge. The Black team made into the semi-final but were narrowly beaten by the winners SharpShooters FC Cambridge.

Great battling from both squads in very hot conditions!!

Also, it was great to see some Under-14s taking their first steps in refereeing in the afternoon session.

What an incredible weekend for Cottenham United Colts CUFC!

Our annual football tournament once again showed why this club and community are something special.

A massive thank you to every single player, from the youngest mini league to the seasoned colts squads, who stepped onto the pitch with passion, teamwork and determination. You represented the club brilliantly and created some unforgettable moments.

To the parents, families and supporters — your encouragement, noise and positivity lifted the atmosphere all day long, especially in the very hot conditions!

To our volunteers, coaches, referees, committee members and behind‑the‑scenes helpers — you are the heartbeat of this event. From setting up pitches at sunrise, to running stalls, managing fixtures, keeping things safe and organised, and staying late to pack everything away… we simply couldn’t do this without you. Your time, effort and commitment make this tournament possible every year.

A huge shout‑out to our sponsors, whose support helps us deliver an event of this scale and quality. Your backing means better facilities, better experiences and more opportunities for our young players.

This tournament is more than football — it’s community, teamwork and pride in the badge.

Held on this Sunday, 24th May 2026 at Cottenham Recreation Ground across 11 grass pitches this year’s tournament promises to be bigger and better than ever.

🔆 The forecast predicts very high temperatures this weekend, so please make sure all precautions are taken to guarantee the safety of both players and spectators. A warm weather guide has been included in the event overview. 🔆

A great battling performance from the girls in their last league game of the season.

Everyone contributed - Gaia and Annabel both made some excellent saves and didn’t panic with their restarts, Macie and Vanessa were fantastic in defence with strong and were brave under pressure, Emma, Amelie and Stella controlled the game in midfield with Layla and April both changing the game with their goals and work rate, while Isabelle worked hard and stretched the game to help us when under pressure.

Player of the Match was Macie who was solid throughout but particularly in the first half while we were finding our feet, but Layla and Stella were a close second today for their fearlessness and work rates.

Really well done all round!! 👏👏⚽

⚽ 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑-𝟏𝟓𝐬 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐒 𝟏 𝐯 𝟐 ICA Sports Football Club ⚽

Tough away trip tp face ICA Sports, who were in need of a victory to advance in their quest for the Division 1 title. As anticipated, the match was fiercely competitive right from the beginning, with ICA taking the lead by reaching the byline and delivering a precise pullback for a well-executed finish, making it 1-0.

The girls responded admirably, fighting hard for the remainder of the half against a resolute ICA defense. Just before halftime, we created an opportunity when Luka's pressure caused the ball to pop to Bethan, who then set up Sasha for a stunning strike from the edge of the box.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with both teams evenly matched. ICA capitalized on a bobble in midfield, and their powerful winger made no mistake, driving into the box and finishing high to make it 2-1.

Cottenham relentlessly sought the equalizer for the rest of the half. Elsie seized a loose ball from a corner and assisted Hannah, whose shot unfortunately hit the post.

In the final minute, Hannah had another chance after some excellent passing, but her shot went just past the post. The final score was 2-1, but it was one of our finest team performances.

Notable players from the day included Elsie, Tia, and Sasha, all of whom were outstanding, but Player of the Game was awarded to Flossy, who had the challenging role of marking their top player throughout the match.

At the end, the referee remarked that these were the two best teams he had seen this season.

Well done, girls, it was a fantastic game! 👏👏⚽
