What a fantastic day running our very first Yonex Demo Day as part of an ambassador programme we’re incredibly proud to be involved in with 🎾

Our first event of the year focused on promoting and raising awareness of the brand new Muse range, and we were delighted to welcome 16 players onto the clay courts at Penarth Windsor from both our own membership and partner venues to test out the new rackets.

The players commented on the ease of use and comfort of the range, and everyone enjoyed a few free coaching tips, some social doubles and then finishing the day by heading up to the show court to watch the annual Leveller Finals.

As part of our ambassador programme with Yonex UK, we’ll be running a series of demo days throughout the season at both Tennis Squad partner clubs and external venues. Players will have the chance to try the full Yonex range alongside:

We’ve had some truly amazing Tennis Leaders over the years - young people who have gone on to achieve fantastic things both within tennis and beyond the sport 🎾

We’re excited to announce that our next Tennis Leaders Course will take place this July!

What is Tennis Leaders?
Tennis Leaders is an LTA-recognised course for juniors of comprehensive school age. Participants complete a short workshop with a qualified tutor, covering some of the basics of coaching and leadership within tennis.

Following the initial 3-hour course, Tennis Leaders can then volunteer on local club programmes, helping them develop valuable skills in:
✅ Communication
✅ Organisation
✅ Confidence & teamwork

Many of our Tennis Leaders volunteer with us as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award or Welsh Bacc, and lots go on to complete further coaching qualifications and badges.

The course is open to:
🎾 Junior members and coaching participants from all of our partner clubs who are of comprehensive school age.

Players from other clubs may also be invited if spaces remain available.

The community atmosphere at this club is truly incredible with an amazing culture, will never forget the birthday welcome they gave me (Rob W on admin duties today) last Summer!

Under the leadership of Will Croft Tennis, Joe, and the whole team, the Thursday night coaching programme is absolutely thriving and packed to the brim. We’re therefore delighted to welcome Wales number one Wheelchair player Lily Folland to the coaching team as we grow junior activity on Mondays as well.

NEW Monday Night Junior Classes!

We're delighted to announce a brand new addition to our junior coaching programme starting from Monday 8th June, in the second week of next term.

Many of our regulars will know that our Thursday evening junior sessions are now completely full and currently operating a waiting list. To help meet demand, we are opening a new Monday evening programme.

We're especially pleased to welcome our new assistant coach, Lily Folland, to the club. Lily is Wales' number one wheelchair tennis player and will be leading junior tennis activities alongside our existing programme. Head Coach Will Croft Tennis will also be coaching other groups on Mondays, so it promises to be a lively and energetic evening on court for all involved.

We’re really excited to share that we’ll be taking on a new role with Yonex UK this year. More on that very soon…. but first, we’ve managed to get our hands on a batch of the brand new Yonex Muse rackets, and we’re hosting a FREE demo event this Saturday at 11am at Penarth Windsor Lawn Tennis Club

Open to adult members, coaching participants and older teens at the Club and partner venues.

This will be part coaching clinic, part racket demo - giving players the chance to try the new Muse range for themselves.

The Muse rackets are designed to reduce stress on the arm, improve forgiveness, and provide a super soft, plush feel. They’re ideal for beginners and improvers, with heavier options for team players too - and could be especially good for anyone with tennis/golfer’s elbow.

As always, there’s absolutely no pressure to buy, but we’ll include a discount links for anyone interested.

There’s something very special happening at Barry Athletic Tennis Club right now 🎾

The courts have had a refresh, there’s fresh energy on the committee with fantastic new ideas, and the club is going through a really exciting period of modernisation.

We’ve now moved to online memberships, with a low-cost monthly option and no minimum term available for the Barry community.

A huge thank you as well to Gianluca for inspiring so many new players through the Thursday night coaching programme 👏

For the first time in over a decade, the club is back in the South Wales Summer Doubles Leagues alongside the Winter Leagues, and last week it was brilliant to see junior member Ewan, who started in Mini Red, make his debut alongside his dad Ed and pick up a win 👏

There’s pickleball equipment available for members to use, and plans are underway to launch pay-and-play court bookings this summer.
