ROAD TO THE CUP | EP.4
PRE-GAME MINDSET
The physical preparation was complete.
For the final session, the focus shifted to the mental side of performance and helping the boys arrive at Cardiff Arms Park calm, confident and ready for the pressure of a cup final.
Big games bring nerves, excitement and expectation. The goal was not to remove those feelings, but to give the tools to control them and use that energy in the right way.
We worked on breathing, focus and nervous-system regulation, alongside conversations around confidence, handling mistakes and staying connected when momentum begins to shift.
How do you respond when something goes wrong?
How do you stay composed when the game becomes chaotic?
How do you focus on your role rather than the occasion?
There was no need for manufactured hype or big speeches.
The boys had already done the work.
This final session was about trusting that preparation, controlling what they could control and stepping onto the pitch ready to perform for one another.
Four sessions covering teamwork, movement, physical preparation and mindset.
Then came Cardiff Arms Park.
And the boys finished the journey as cup winners.
A huge achievement for the entire group, and one we were proud to play a small part in.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
With the foundations in place and the group moving with greater purpose, Episode Three was about preparing the boys for the physical demands of a cup final.
Big games require more than one strong effort.
They demand repeated work, quick recovery and the ability to keep making good decisions when the body begins to tire.
We put through a demanding strength and conditioning session combining hill work, bodyweight strength, explosive movement and high-output team challenges.
The aim was not simply to push the boys until they were exhausted.
It was to challenge their ability to maintain their standards under fatigue.
Could they keep moving well?
Could they continue communicating clearly?
Could they support one another and stay disciplined when the session became uncomfortable?
Anybody can look organised and composed when they feel fresh.
The real test is whether those qualities remain when the pressure rises and the legs start to go.
The boys worked hard, stayed connected and continued building towards the physical intensity they would face at Cardiff Arms Park.
Another layer added.
One session remaining.

ROAD TO THE CUP | EP.2
FORMATIONAL MOVEMENT
After laying the foundations in our first session, Episode Two was about helping the boys move, react and communicate as one unit.
Cup finals are rarely decided by individual effort alone. They are decided by how well a group stays connected, responds under pressure and understands where they need to be in the moments that matter.
During this session, we challenged through a series of movement, positioning and team-based drills designed to improve communication, awareness and decision-making.
The boys had to organise themselves quickly, adjust to changing situations and work together while the physical and mental pressure increased.
It was about more than simply completing the exercises.
It was about recognising space, supporting one another, communicating early and understanding how every individual movement affected the rest of the team.
When players are tired, the smallest details can begin to disappear.
This session was about making sure they didn’t.
Better communication. Better movement. A more connected team.
One step closer to Cardiff Arms Park.

THE GROUND WORK
With preparing for their upcoming cup final at Cardiff Arms Park, we wanted to do everything we could to help the boys arrive physically prepared, mentally ready and confident in one another.
Across four sessions, we worked through different areas of performance — building stronger foundations, improving how the group moved and communicated, developing their physical conditioning and preparing them to manage the pressure of a cup final.
Each session had a different purpose, but they were all working towards the same goal: helping the players become a stronger, more connected and more resilient team when it mattered most.
Episode One: The Ground Work.
Before focusing on formations, conditioning or match-day mindset, we needed to establish the foundations.
We took the boys away from the rugby pitch and placed them in an environment designed to challenge how they worked together under pressure.
Rope climbs. Hill work. Log carries. Bodyweight strength. Team challenges. Cold-water exposure.
Every task demanded communication, composure and complete commitment. It was not simply about who was the strongest or the fastest. It was about maintaining standards, supporting the players around you and continuing to make good decisions when fatigue began to take over.
Cup victories are rarely built on the day of the final.
They begin in sessions like this.

Train hard. Recover properly. Come back ready to go again.
A huge 4-hour session with Dunvant RFC U16s on Saturday. 🏉
The lads spent 2.5 hours getting properly stuck into the physical work on one of the hottest Saturdays we’ve had.
We then moved into recovery, down regulation and teaching the players how to bring their nervous system back down after hard training.
Why?
Because performance isn’t just about how hard you can push.
It’s about how well you can recover and come back for the next session.
We worked with the lads on simple tools they can actually use to switch off, improve sleep quality and give their bodies the best chance of recovering before training and game day.
Train.
Recover.
Adapt.
Go again.
Massive credit to Dunvant U16s. A proper group of lads who bought into both sides of the day. 👏
More teams are starting to understand that pre-season needs to be about more than just getting fit.

The best players don’t wait for untill the season has started to raise their standards…
A brilliant day with the Bristol Rovers Academy squad, focusing on the things that separate good teams from great ones.
Leadership.
Communication.
Accountability.
Not because they’re nice words...
Because they’re the habits that win games when pressure builds.
Every challenge throughout the day had a purpose: bringing the squad closer together, encouraging players to lead without being asked, and setting the standard before the first day of pre-season.
The top 3% aren’t different because they train harder for one day.
A massive thank you to all the players and staff for buying into the session.
The season starts long before the first whistle.

A brilliant session with Pontypool United RFC U15s on Sunday. 🏉
Pre-season isn’t just about getting fitter.
It’s about resetting expectations.
Raising standards.
And creating a mindset that carries through an entire season.
We challenged the boys physically, but also the way they approached every task.
Attitude.
Accountability.
Communication.
The willingness to compete when things get uncomfortable.
Massive credit to the coaches and every player for the effort they brought from start to finish.
The season ahead starts with the work you put in now.

Brilliant morning with Beddau U15S & U16s. 👏
No shortcuts. No complaints.
Just a group of lads prepared to get stuck into every challenge from start to finish.
Today’s session focused on building:
Physicality.
Leadership.
Decision making under pressure.
These are the sessions that lay the foundations before a ball is kicked this season.
Massive credit to the coaches and the boys for the attitude they brought all morning.
Pre-season is where standards are set.
Corporate away day... Green Mile style. 🌊💪
While most team days involve a meeting room and a buffet, the team from Admiral decided to do things a little differently.
Log runs.
Water.
Cold plunge pool.
A few challenges.
Plenty of laughs.
And as these behind-the-scenes clips show, they fully embraced it.
The best team days aren’t just about getting people out of the office.
No awkward ice breakers.
No forced fun.
Just shared challenge, shared experience, and a great day with good people.
Who knew getting soaked could be so good for team culture? 😂
If you’re planning your next team away day, ask yourself one question:
Do you want another day out...
Or an experience your team will still be talking about next month?
You don’t become a more physical team by simply telling players to “get stuck in.”
You train it.
Great session with Cosmos U12s yesterday, and what a group they were.
In just two hours we packed a huge amount in, challenging the boys physically, pushing them outside their comfort zones, and most importantly changing their mentality towards the physical side of football.
The brief from the coach was simple:
Build a team that takes the game to the opposition, not one that waits for the game to happen to them.
Winning your battles.
Competing for every ball.
Being brave in challenges.
Staying switched on when the game gets tough.
Massive credit to the lads, the energy, attitude and willingness to learn was outstanding.
The foundations for a big season are being built now.
Pre-season sessions are well underway for football teams, rugby clubs, schools and academies.
