Strength doesn’t just support footballers…

It helps create them⚽️

If you want to play at a higher level, simply training harder isn’t enough.

You need to understand which physical qualities matter, how to develop them and how to fit that work around training and match days.

You need to know what to train, when to train it, how much work to complete and what intensity to use.

That is a lot for any player to manage, and getting it wrong can mean wasted sessions, inconsistent progress and turning up to matches carrying unnecessary fatigue.

Football Performance takes away the guesswork.

Every session is structured within a progressive programme, giving you confidence that your training is helping you become stronger, faster, more robust and consistently available to perform.

You focus on doing the work. We take care of the plan.

It doesn’t matter how powerful a car is, if it has flat tyres, it’s slow.

That’s why calf strength and ankle stiffness is so important.

If they’re weak, all that force you can produce is leaked right from the start of any sprint, change of direction or jump.

Pogos and other jump variations can be an easy way of learning to stiffen the ankles and prime you before running. We include them before all pitch work (rugby training / sprinting / conditioning) and in the gym to get regular exposure to them - they’re one of those exercises that rarely leave the programme.

Pairing the jumps and ground contacts with heavy calf work in the gym will further develop your ability to efficiently generate force. On a single or double leg, aim to get a combination of high rep capacity work, low rep strength work, and overcoming isometrics.
