There was something pretty special about doing client check-ins from the Scottish Highlands… on my birthday ⛰️
I really do love what I do and it really does not feel like “work”
Checking in with my girls, hearing about their wins, helping them navigate the harder weeks, seeing strength go up, confidence grow and habits start to click…I genuinely LOVE this part of coaching.
Yes, I was on holiday. Yes, it was my birthday. And yes, I was very happy sitting here with a coffee checking in with everyone before getting on with my day.
Very grateful that this gets to be my job 🤍

Hi all! 🤍
I’ve wrapped up my final clients and I’m now officially out of office and on annual leave ⛰️🌿
I’ll be back in action on 24th August.
Online check-ins will still be running while I’m away, so please make sure your form is submitted by midday next Monday to receive your feedback.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while I take some time to properly switch off and recharge. 🙌
I can’t wait to catch up with you all when I’m back 🤍
Scottish Highlands, here we come! 🏔️🏴

Introducing the Empower Hour Progress Journal! 🤍
If you train with me through personal training or online coaching, you’ll already know how valuable it is to track your progress using my coaching app.
Every session, we log performance, review previous results and aim for small improvements over time.
Now, I wanted to bring that same coaching approach to our Empower Hour.
While Empower Hour members don’t use the coaching app, you’ll now have your own personalised training journal to track your progress in exactly the same way.
It isn’t just about turning up and completing the session. It’s about having something to work towards and always looking for the next small improvement, whether that’s:
• More weight or training volume
• A greater distance
• A faster time
• More calories completed during an interval
• Completing more work within the same 40-second effort
As we cycle back through our different strength and conditioning circuits, you’ll be able to look back at exactly what you achieved before, whether that’s the weight you lifted, the distance you rowed, the calories you hit on the Assault Bike, or how much work you completed during each interval.
I’ll also encourage you to make notes on how you felt that day. Maybe your energy was low, you felt stronger than usual, or your training felt harder because of where you were in your menstrual cycle. Over time, these notes help build a picture of your body, allowing you to recognise patterns, understand your performance and appreciate that progress isn’t always linear.
That means every time a circuit comes around again, you’ll have a clear target to beat and a better understanding of yourself as an athlete.
Track it. Celebrate it. Improve it. 🤍
Because progress isn’t about being better than someone else… it’s about being better than you were the last time you did it.

Effort face 😤
One thing I notice when I coach you over time is what your genuine effort looks like.
Every client is different.
Some go quiet.
Some start negotiating for longer rests.
Some suddenly become very chatty and try to distract me. 😉
Some pull the face.
It’s not just the facial expression I’m looking at. It’s your breathing, movement, tempo and how your technique changes as the set gets harder.
The more I coach you, the better I understand what your hard work looks like.
That matters because progress doesn’t come from simply going through the motions. To build strength or muscle, your training needs to be challenging enough to give your body a reason to adapt.
Knowing your individual signs of effort helps me decide when to encourage one more rep… and when you’ve genuinely reached the right point to stop.
Every client has an effort face. Good coaches learn to recognise it.
And yes… I also know when you’ve got another rep in you. 😉

If your fat loss has slowed, your first thought shouldn’t be…
“I need to eat even less.”
Instead, ask yourself:
• Have I been tracking honestly?
• Have weekends looked the same as weekdays?
• Am I actually hitting my protein target?
• Have my steps and training stayed consistent?
• Am I looking at the trend… or just one weigh-in?
So many people assume they’ve “hit a plateau” when really they’ve just drifted away from the habits that got them results in the first place.
Before making your plan more restrictive, tighten up the basics for 2–3 weeks.
Consistency beats perfection. Every single time.
If you’re struggling to know what to change, or whether you even need to change anything, drop me a message.
Sometimes the answer isn’t eating less… it’s simply having someone help you see the bigger picture. 🤍
