Did you know that this weekend marks a major milestone for one of our finest tournaments? Tomorrow morning sees the tee off of the Aberconwy Trophy, and this year is incredibly special as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event.

Take a look at this brilliant photo from the archives, showing the very first trophy presentation back in 1976. Conwy member John Roger Jones, affectionately known to many as JR, was the inaugural winner of the Trophy, and we are delighted that he will be part of the Presentation ceremony again this year.

While the styles might have changed over the last five decades, the prestige of winning this tournament certainly hasn't.

Over the next two days, a field of amateur golfers will battle it out over 72 gruelling holes, 36 here at Conwy tomorrow, and 36 across the estuary at Llandudno Golf Club - Maesdu on Sunday.

We wish the very best of luck to everyone in the field for this milestone anniversary weekend.

A punchbowl green nestled right against the seashore makes the 7th at Conwy one of the most memorable sights on the course.

This stunning par 4 runs directly along the coastline, and while the views across to Anglesey and the Great Orme are spectacular, the hole requires total concentration. After navigating the trio of bunkers guarding the right side of the fairway, you are left with a testing approach into that unique green tucked by the water's edge.

Walking off with a par here is always a brilliant result on a hole that truly defines links golf in North Wales.
