What a month it’s been! 🌈⛳️💍

August has been a fantastic month here at the Eastbourne Downs, with a wonderful mix of celebrations, events and, of course, some very happy couples! ❤️

We’ve loved welcoming so many of you through our doors and helping make your special occasions memorable

A huge thank you to everyone who has celebrated with us this month, and to all the fantastic suppliers and teams who help make each event so special. 🌈✨

There’s a lot to be proud of across Get Golfing

Over recent weeks, a number of our golf courses have received recognition in independent rankings – but one set of figures particularly caught our attention.

Data based on handicap and scorecard submissions places Pyrford Lakes as the 8th most-played golf course in England, with other Get Golfing venues also featuring strongly:

That comes alongside other recent recognition across our group, including Pyrford Lakes lakes featuring among Surrey’s leading courses, Winter Hill Golf Club being recognised among Berkshire’s best, and Eastbourne Downs appearing in Golf World’s ranking of the best-value courses in Great Britain & Ireland.

We’re delighted by the accolades. But, for us, the numbers tell a bigger story.

Get Golfing is a charity, and our purpose goes well beyond simply operating golf courses.

We believe our golf clubs can be places that bring people together: welcoming golfers of different ages and backgrounds, creating opportunities for people to discover and enjoy the game, supporting local communities and charities, and ensuring that our venues have a positive impact far beyond the fairways. The more successful and accessible our golf courses become, the more we can reinvest in them, in the people who use them and in the communities around them.

That’s why seeing so many people choosing to play our courses matters to us.

Of course, none of this happens by accident. Maintaining and continually improving our courses takes an enormous amount of skill, care and hard work. So these achievements belong first and foremost to the brilliant greenkeeping, course management and wider venue teams across our venues.

Thank you to them - and to every golfer who chooses to spend their time with us.

We’ll keep working to make our courses better, make golf more accessible and, most importantly, improve more lives through golf.

We never thought we’d be this happy to see it! 😂

After weeks of sunshine, we’re not sure whether to get the umbrellas out or celebrate...

Our course could certainly do with a good drink, and the rain is very welcome. ⛳️🌱

Although we suspect the golfers might be slightly less enthusiastic, along with anyone heading to the beach this morning ... 😂

🏌️‍♀️💐 Yesterday saw our ladies out on the course for the Lady Captain’s Day, and what a wonderful day it was! ⛳️☀️

There was some great golf, plenty of smiles and, most importantly, lots of fun and friendship along the way. 💕

Even better, the ladies also did their bit for a fantastic cause, raising an brilliant £305 for Rockinghorse Charity — with more still expected! 🎉👏

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated and helped make the day such a success. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves while supporting such a brilliant charity. ❤️

Getting the course ready for the European Junior Open Qualifier means paying attention to every detail. Today was all about changing hole locations. Removing the old hole, cutting a new one in a carefully chosen position, and repairing the old hole to help the turf recover.

Regular hole changes help spread wear, protect the greens, and keep putting conditions fair and consistent for every player.
