Club Champion’s Simultaneous Exhibition

Riddle me this…what is harder than playing a game of chess? Answer: playing 20 games of chess all at the same time! On Tuesday 29th September at 7.30pm, our club champion FM Neil Berry will be taking on 20 club members in the annual club champion’s simultaneous display. Neil runs the junior training at the club, is a former president, an experienced international player and a former Scottish champion so this is a unique opportunity for our members to test their skills against one of the country’s best players....

Doors Open Days

Exciting times chess friends! This year, Edinburgh Chess Club will be participating in the nationwide “Doors Open Days” festival. Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free heritage festival, coordinated in Edinburgh and East Lothian by the Cockburn Association. Club Renovations

As we head into a new club year, we are delighted to announce that the club will be getting some renovations done during August. The rear windows in the main playing hall are receiving some much-needed attention and the spare room (the locked door on the left in the hall) is being completely renovated so that we can expand our chess playing area, increase the number of tables in the club, and give our members more room during our increasingly popular and well-attended Tuesday club nights....

The 2026 Scottish Championships have just concluded in Hamilton. Competition ranged across three events – the Open, the U1800 and the Scottish Rapidplay tournament. Edinburgh Chess Club were well represented across all three events and took home a number of the prizes too!
