✨Transitions ✨

This week marked a huge transition for me in my work and the closing of a long and deeply meaningful chapter.

I recently made the difficult decision to step away from my work with the Children’s Society, where I’ve worked for nearly 7 years - initially as a therapist, and for the past 3 years, after pivoting my career path, I have had the privilege of launching a new program offering trauma-sensitive yoga groups to young people. I have absolutely loved this work. For 17 years now, I have worked with children & young people therapeutically in some capacity. This work has been a true passion of mine and it has shifted and changed over the years as my career has evolved and life has taken me in different directions. This work has deeply touched me, inspired me, challenged me, and led to so much growth both personally and professionally. I am so grateful for all that I have learned, for the privilege of doing this incredible work, and for all the amazing people I have met along the way 🫶

But there is a season for everything, and it was time for me to let this go. Life is a series of continuous transitions - yet sometimes we resist these changes, as we are so comfortable in the familiar, and the uncertainly can feel scary. Motherhood for me has shifted and changed so many things, and the past few years have felt so overwhelming at times managing the demands of parenting alongside this work, in addition to my own growing business, my partner’s new business, health issues, challenging family dynamics, grief/loss, & all the other unexpected things that life throws our way! It truly is bittersweet - as I wholeheartedly love this work, and yet I know that this is the right move for me right now. This will also be the first time in my life I’ve been 100% self-employed, and as much as that feels scary, I completely trust the path I am on. The work I’m doing in my business feels so aligned with my values & my life right now, and I’m truly passionate about the direction I’m headed. There are exciting new things on the horizon! I am SO grateful to all of you for your continued support, encouragement & kindness 🙏

As one chapter ends, another begins 💫

The theme for this year’s mental health awareness week is “Take action”, focusing on the positive steps we can take (big or small!) to help improve our mental health & wellbeing 🫶

I am so passionate about yoga as a tool to support our mental health. I’ve experienced the life-changing benefits myself and witnessed this in so many of my students. Today, I had the pleasure of guiding a group of students through a chair-based yoga practice at Lifeways, a supported living service in Exeter. I absolutely love introducing and sharing the wonderful benefits of yoga to new groups 🙏 We had such a beautiful (and very breezy!) outdoor yoga session, all the participants were so open to it and very much felt the benefits of the practice 🧘‍♀️

There are so many ways that yoga can support our mental health. Even taking 5 minutes for mindful movement or intentional breathing can really shift our energy and have a huge impact in how we feel ✨

If you’re interested in trying yoga to support your mental health, please reach out! I have a range of group classes, and also offer 1:1s, workplace yoga and private group sessions 😊

Mental health awareness week ✨

My own journey with my mental health is what initially led me to yoga. Throughout all the ups and downs of life, my practice has been a steady anchor that had kept me grounded and connected to myself. It has shifted and adapted over the years to accommodate injury, illness, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, fluctuating energy levels, and shifting identities - but it is one thing in my life that I have never questioned and I have stayed committed to throughout it all 🙏

The past few years in particular, with perimenopause making an appearance, dealing with grief, complex family dynamics, health issues, and the juggle of parenting young children without a village of support - I have really struggled with my mental health at times. There is no quick fix when we are going though heavy times, but I am truly grateful for my own practice, and for the privilege of being able to share this with others. Developing my own heart-led business has kept me afloat during some of the rockiest times, and I know it has been the same for many of my students. Holding intentional spaces for us to come together to reconnect with ourselves and others is a true passion & purpose of mine, and I feel immense gratitude for this. The shift in energy in a room when we slow down, soften, move & breathe together is just magic, and it has truly been medicine for me. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, we need connection & community. Creating spaces where we can come together with others in a positive & supportive way is such an important element of supporting our mental health and well-being 💛

To those of you struggling, who are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, lonely, disconnected, weighed down by grief or that life is just too much - I see you. Know that you are never alone 🤗 Life can be a lot sometimes 🫶
