Over 12 months since my last post?!? (You can tell I'm not particularly good with social media!)
So, an update. Not a particularly positive one unfortunately.
Road works (South West Water) - Penryn
May 6 - Jun 13
There will "delays likely" - according to the website.
Please take a look at the link on this post for more information.
If previous experience is anything to go by, this was an inconvenience and meant additional travel time for clients, and meant that classes were significantly lower in numbers.
Please keep this in mind and plan ahead when travelling to/from the studio during this period of time.

Upcoming roadworks affecting parking and roads surrounding the studio from 15/01/24 until late March. Original post shared by Falmouth Town Council.
Please plan ahead with your travel to the studio over the coming weeks - delays are expected.
It's going to be an interesting couple of months π¬

CLASS STRUCTURE:
Lots of people aren't sure what Pilates entails... Until you get stuck into your first class.
The content of each class is different - designed for the different attendees that have signed up to the class: it could be a hip-focused class, balance / fall prevention, upper body, full body, strengthening for runners, mobility for desk-based individuals, bone health...
Here's a breakdown of the class framework which is always the same structure but not the same content.
1. WARM UP πͺπΌ
Let's go! β°
Time to prepare the body and bring focus into the class. Encourage you to think and feel the movements and engage with the exercises and your body. Movement of muscles, joints, limbs to beat prepare for the main focus of the class.
2. MAIN BODY π₯
This is where the magic happens πͺ
Strength and resistance training using body weight and/or small equipment e.g. resistance bands, Pilates circles, weighted balls to challenge the body with a focus on control and quality of movement. A challenging part of the class that requires attention, and listening in to the variations that are provided e.g. "for those with knee pain/low blood pressure/hip replacements/back pain/runners/rowers/desk-based people..." etc.
Don't forget to breathe π«
3. COOL DOWN
Almost there... The end of class is in sight π₯΄
This section focuses on the relevant joints and muscles and how we can improve mobility and flexibility as well as encourage recovery from exercise. Movement is generally slower than in the earlier stages of class giving more time for feedback, discussions and questions.

Hands up: Who has ever felt nervous/apprehensive/scared/anxious/insecure/worried (any or all of the above) about attending a Pilates class or when starting a different form of exercise than you're used to or whilst learning new skills?
If any of that sounds familiar, know that you are not alone.
In recent months, I have had many clients approach me to speak about pre-class fears so I thought it may be useful for some to read more about this on the website blog: osteopilatescornwall.com/blog
All too often I hear:
1. "I am not fit/flexible/strong/co-ordinated enough"
2. "I don't like big groups/loud environments"
3. "I don't think I'd be any good"
So let's address these points:
1. Flexibility, strength, co-ordination, fitness are just a few of the aims of Pilates. We all start somewhere - you just have to start.
2. OsteoPilates Cornwall classes are limited to a maximum of 12 people. The studio is a relaxing environment based on the Penryn River in Jubilee Wharf, Commercial Road.
3. Learning new skills as an adult requires time and patience! Plus, it is important to remember that we all have to begin somewhere.
Still unsure? Use the "contact" page of the website to message me directly. Happy to answer questions that you may have.

βοΈ A huge thank you to all the staff at for welcoming my clients and me to the studio βοΈ
βοΈAnother very important thank you to my wonderful clients for your kindness and understanding whilst I have been making the changes to the location, the timetable and the website βοΈ
You all brought great, positive energy to the classes this week and it reminded me just how much I love teaching, and how much I have missed our classes over the last month or so. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in 2023.
