Athlete of the Month: Ellie Ferguson🟠
A massive shoutout to Ellie Ferguson, who takes the spot as our latest Athlete of the Month!
If you’ve been training in the same classes lately, you’ll have noticed the massive strides Ellie has been making. She’s always put the work in, but recently everything has clicked, and she’s hitting a serious bit of form.
The biggest change we’ve seen isn’t just the extra weight on her barbell, it’s her confidence. Ellie is properly backing herself now. She’s stepping up to heavier weights and tough movements without a second thought, trusting her engine, and carrying herself like the quality athlete she is.
Seeing someone realise just how capable they are, while being a top-tier member of the community is exactly what the gym is about.
Brilliant work, Ellie. Massively deserved. Keep doing what you’re doing! 👊🔥

“What’s the goal today, Coach?” 📋
If you aren’t asking this before you grab your barbell, you might be missing out on the best part of the workout!
Every single session we program at CrossFit Fareham has something we call the “intended stimulus.” That’s just a fancy coaching term for: How is this workout supposed to feel, and what is it doing for your body? 🏋️♂️✨
Think of it this way:
If a workout is designed to be a lightning-fast, 5-minute sweaty sprint, but it takes you 15 minutes because the weight on the bar is too heavy... you actually miss out on the intended stimulus. Instead of getting that high-energy cardio burn, it turns into a long, heavy grind.
There is zero shame in modifying a movement! In fact, scaling a workout or dropping the weight isn’t “cheating” it’s training smart. It’s how you get the absolute best results for your body, exactly where you’re at today.
The Takeaway:
Don’t let the leaderboard get in your head. True fitness happens when you hit the right vibe for the workout, not when you struggle through a version that doesn’t fit your goals.
Next time you lift the barbell or look at the whiteboard, ask us for your perfect game plan. We have a version of every single workout tailored just for you! 💪

Are you training hard, or are you training smart? 🤔
In the world of CrossFit, it’s easy to get caught up in the mentality that every workout needs to be a full-throttle, all-out sprint. But the truth? If you send it every single day, you aren’t just training; you’re digging a hole of fatigue that makes it impossible to perform at your best.
That’s why we use RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) at CrossFit Fareham.
RPE isn’t about the weight on the bar or the clock on the wall. It’s about how that movement or workout feels in the moment.
Your capacity changes daily based on your sleep, your stress, and your recovery.
RPE gives you the freedom to “autoregulate”, meaning you push when you’re feeling strong and pull back when your body needs to recover. It keeps you consistent, keeps you injury-free, and ultimately, helps you see better results long-term.
Swipe through to see what RPE actually is, why we use it, and how to use our scale to pace your next workout.
