SUKC Round 7 β€” The Finale 🏁

We went into the final round just 2 points ahead of Edinburgh Napier, knowing it would take everything to hold onto the championship.

Qualifying didn’t go our way. Heat A lined up: Adam Morrell P4, Matthew Bromley P7, Ethan McGee P10, Aidan Glennon P11, Daniel Tatarenko P14, Struan Kingdom P15. Heat B followed with Charlie Spence P6, Cayden Wilson P9, Freddie Kinder P12, Maks Inkster P16. Meanwhile, Napier locked out the front row in Heat A and had 2 other drivers in the top 4 overall.

However, the races told a different story.

In Heat A, Adam Morrell spent the race in the battle for the podium, coming away with a crucial P3. Matthew Bromley backed it up with a really strong P6, while Aidan Glennon (P8), Daniel Tatarenko (P9), Struan Kingdom (P11) and Ethan McGee (P13) all delivered important performances in a tightly contested field. However, Napier performed just as well, so it was up to Heat B to decide the championship...

Charlie Spence produced an absolutely phenomenal drive to win Heat B, his second win of the season! With Freddie Kinder securing P3, his first podium of SUKC whilst gaining 10 positions from his quali position, and Cayden Wilson adding more vital points in P5. Maks Inkster rounded things off in P14.

We had clawed it back. Strathclyde are SUKC Champions. πŸ†πŸ”₯

From 2 points ahead at the beginning, to being champions upon the final chequered flag β€” a complete team effort. Every driver, every position, every point mattered.

What a fantastic way to end the season, and a special thank you to for being such an awesome competitor!

Round 5 of the SUKC saw the team take a huge step forward β€” scoring more points than any other university and extending the gap to 2nd place in the standings! πŸ’ͺ🏁

In Heat A, Charlie Spence and Adam Morrell qualified an impressive P2 and P3 in the dry, showing front-running pace from the outset. Unfortunately, the pace didn’t quite translate in the wet race conditions, but both still delivered strong results with P4 and P5 finishes. Cayden Wilson added more valuable points in P6, while Aidan Glennon (P11) and Struan Kingdom (P13) battled hard in tricky conditions to bring it home.

Heat B saw Freddie Kinder secure a solid P8 finish, continuing his consistent form. Matthew Bromley showed strong early pace and was running well before being hit and dropping down the order, ultimately finishing P15 after a frustrating race.

Another full team effort β€” and we move on to Round 6 with momentum firmly on our side πŸ”₯

#πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Japan is using piezoelectric tiles to turn people's footsteps into electricity! These tiles can capture the kinetic energy from your steps. When you walk, your weight and movement put pressure on the tiles. The tiles bend slightly, creating mechanical stress. The piezoelectric material inside the tiles converts this stress into electrical energy. Each step generates a small amount of charge, and when you add up millions of steps, it's enough electricity to power LED lights, digital displays, and sensors. In places with a lot of foot traffic, like train stations, about 2.4 million steps contribute to the system every day. This electricity can be stored or used immediately, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and supporting sustainable urban infrastructure. This method turns everyday movements into practical renewable energy.
