Kirsty's run at the POLYTRON Indonesia Open came to an end in Jakarta yesterday, but not without another strong showing against world-class opposition.

Facing higher-ranked South Korean Sim for the first time on the BWF World Tour, Kirsty produced a determined performance in challenging conditions. The match was as close as anticipated, with long rallies and fine margins throughout, before Sim edged both games 21-17, 21-18.

While the result didn't go Kirsty's way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. Competing against some of the world's elite players during this demanding Asian swing has provided valuable experience and highlighted encouraging progress in her game. The ability to consistently challenge higher-ranked opponents will give Kirsty confidence as she looks ahead to the remainder of the season.

The last few weeks have tested both physically and mentally, but they have also offered opportunities to learn, adapt and continue building towards the major goals later in the year. Every match at this level provides important lessons, and there are plenty of positives to carry forward from the trip.

Kirsty will now return home for a well-earned training block before getting back on court in just over six weeks' time at the DAIHATSU Japan Open in Tokyo.

A huge thank you to coach Rajiv Ouseph for his support, expertise and hard work throughout the Asian leg of the tour.

Thank you also to everyone who has followed, supported and cheered Kirsty on from around the world. The work continues, and we're looking forward to what's next.

Masters Tournament Cancellation

It is with regret that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our first Masters Tournament.

Unfortunately, the number of entries received has not been sufficient to make the event financially viable. To provide the quality tournament experience we aim for, including enough matches for all players, we generally require around 75 entries.

We do feel that part of this was due to our advertising timeline. As tournament organisers, we work hard to avoid clashes with other events across the West of Scotland, and we also avoid advertising during the promotion periods of other Masters tournaments. Unfortunately, we were unaware that another Masters event was taking place during the time slot we had available for advertising, which significantly limited our ability to promote the tournament.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who entered and supported the event. We appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to try something a little different.

Over the coming days, we will be contacting all entrants to offer either a full refund or the option to transfer their entry fee to one of our future tournaments during the season.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of badminton in Ayrshire.

I have finally recovered from an amazing weekend!

Here is a rundown of the winners from each event. Once again, this was a very well-attended tournament that ran smoothly throughout the weekend. On the whole, player conduct was outstanding, and there were so many bright spots across all events. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who participated and accommodated my terrible pronunciation over the microphone!

Firstly, congratulations to the finalists and winners from Saturday's events:
๐Ÿ† Men's Bronze Singles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Muhammad Mustafa Zaib
๐Ÿฅˆ Samuel Street [3]
๐Ÿ† Women's Bronze Singles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Alex Chan-Taylor
๐Ÿฅˆ Malavika Shivakumar
๐Ÿ† Men's Copper Singles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Tharun Siddharth Shyam
๐Ÿฅˆ Ali Tanveer
๐Ÿ† Bronze Mixed Doubles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Rajdeep Reddy Katamreddy [4] & Malavika Shivakumar
๐Ÿฅˆ Naithan McNeil [3] & Rebecca Bissett
It was a truly amazing day of badminton. We came incredibly close to breaking the match-play record from our very first Bonanza event, narrowly missing out by just 12 games!

Sunday doubles day.

We increased the scoring format to 3 x 21, although it would have helped if I had remembered I'd also included quarter-finals when planning around the old 3 x 15 format! Safe to say it was a value-for-money day for the players.
Once again, the standard of play was fantastic, and it was a pleasure to watch so many great matches unfold.
Congratulations to the finalists and winners of Sunday's events:
๐Ÿ† Men's Bronze Doubles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Bishan Gurung & Angus Macleod
๐Ÿฅˆ Ian King [3] & Joshua Lowe
๐Ÿ† Men's Copper Doubles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Muhammad Ahsan Amjad & Tharun Siddharth Shyam
๐Ÿฅˆ Vivek Arora & Ziad Karamat
๐Ÿ† Women's Bronze Doubles
๐Ÿฅ‡ Rebecca Dobbin [1] & Fiona Simpson
๐Ÿฅˆ Rebecca Bissett [2] & Carla-Louise Mackenzie
We absolutely love running these events and are already looking forward to seeing this season's Copper winners and finalists stepping up into our Bronze tournaments next season.
Going forward, all our tournaments will be run in the popular Bonanza format. We also have something very special coming up in September, the first ever Scottish Triple in Ayrshire, where players from across all levels will get the chance to battle it out over an incredible weekend of badminton.

๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ป RSL Latvia International Preview ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ป

Scotland will have two representatives competing in Riga this week as the RSL Latvia International gets underway. The Future Series event has attracted a strong international field, with players travelling from across Europe and further afield to compete for valuable world ranking points.

๐Ÿธ Finlay Jack is first up for Scotland as he begins his men's singles campaign tomorrow morning in the qualifying round of 128. Jack is scheduled to be the second match on Court 1, where he will face Israel's Mogilner. While the Scot will be looking to take confidence from his recent performances, opening-round matches can often be tricky and he will need a strong display to secure his place in the next round.

๐Ÿธ Xiaozhu Jiang has arguably the toughest task of the Scottish contingent in men's singles qualifying. He has been drawn against Poland's Golas, the number one seed in the qualifying draw, with the match scheduled as the fourth contest on Court 4. Jiang will be hoping to cause an upset and book his place in the next stage of the competition.

๐Ÿธ Jiang will also feature in the mixed doubles event, partnering England's Ann Mok. The pair are scheduled to begin their qualifying campaign on Thursday as they look to progress through to the main draw.

๐Ÿ“บ Fans can watch all the action live on Badminton Europe TV: http://www.badmintoneurope.tv

We wish Finlay and Xiaozhu the very best of luck in Latvia and look forward to following their progress throughout the week.

Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates and a full tournament review at the conclusion of the event.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ POLYTRON Indonesia Open Preview

Kirsty Gilmour is in Jakarta this week as she prepares to compete at one of the most prestigious events on the BWF calendar, the POLYTRON Indonesia Open, part of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1000 series.

As one of the biggest tournaments in world badminton, the Indonesia Open brings together the sportโ€™s elite, with no easy matches from the opening round.

Gilmour begins her campaign early Wednesday morning against South Koreaโ€™s Yu Jin Sim, currently ranked World No. 20. It represents a major early test against top-20 opposition in a high-pressure environment, with both players aiming to start their week strongly in Jakarta.

This will also be the first-ever meeting between the two players on the BWF World Tour, adding an extra layer of anticipation to what is expected to be a tightly contested opening-round match.

Gilmour is once again supported courtside by experienced coach Rajiv Ouseph, whose experience competing at the highest level of the sport will be key throughout the week.

๐Ÿ“บ Watch live throughout the week on BWF TV: http://www.youtube.com/c/bwftv

Stay tuned for updates across the tournament, with a full review to follow once Gilmourโ€™s campaign in Jakarta concludes. ๐Ÿธ
