We will remember then.

Today we reflect on two years passing since the club was forced to close its doors for good after 145 years following the loss of our tenancy at the wonderful Shawholm. Here’s to all those who played, supported and kept Poloc going for all those years. Remember Poloc, Remember Shawholm!

We are sorry to announce the passing of former Poloc professional Iain Burrows. Iain passed away peacefully in his sleep in Hobart, Tasmania, having recently celebrated his 80th birthday.

Iain was professional at Shawholm in 1971. Although only professional at Poloc for that one season, before going on to play for Ferguslie, he retained a great affection for the club and was a regular visitor to Shawholm over the years that followed. He is pictured, with the late Archie Reid, in 1978 as the two prepared to umpire the club's centenary match. Iain is survived by his wife Joyce Burrows (nee Haw) who can be seen in the background of the photo.

As another Remembrance Sunday passes we remember those former members of Poloc who laid down their lives in WWI and WWII. We are still working to find a suitable place for the War Memorial within Pollok Eatate since our departure from Shawholm in 2023.

More sad news, we are sorry to report the death, last Thursday, of former Club Treasurer, Nan Scott. Our thoughts are with the family at this time.

We are sorry to report the death, yesterday, of former Club Secretary, Miller Frondigoun. Our thoughts are with his wife Joan and the rest of the family.

We are sorry to hear about the deaths of two former members recently. First, Robin Hagart who was a long term member of the Golf Section and just yesterday, Pauline McDonald a hockey associate and social member for many years. Our thoughts go out to both families at this time.

As 2023 draws to a close we delivered an original bench from Shawholm to the other five founding member clubs of the Western Union in memory of Poloc. We hope that all those spectators who sit on these benches at Clydesdale, Drumpellier, Greenock, Uddingston and West of Scotland will remember Poloc and remember Shawholm for years to come. The remaining benches from the ground were gifted to club members who had given many years of time and effort to Poloc and now adorn gardens across the city.

This is the first year since it was commissioned that the War Memorial has not been on the wall at Shawholm. ❤️ "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. We will remember them." ❤️. We still remember all those members who gave their lives in service of their country.

We are sorry to hear of the passing of former member Ernie Donaldson. His funeral takes place this Thursday (26 October) at 3pm at the Linn Crematorium.

We are sorry to hear about the passing in recent days of two former members. Margaret Harvie, wife of former President, Iain Harvie and today the death of Keith Underwood a former captain, husband of Anne and brother of former England spinner, Derek. Our thoughts are with both families at this time.
