Apperley Cricket Club Welcome 2025

Happy New Year to everyone!
Firstly, a massive thank you to Anthony Wilkes for the last ten years as Chair of the Committee and for all of his hard work and efforts in navigating us to where we are today. He will continue to be a big part of the Club.

Following the recent AGM, we welcome Kerry Hall as the new Chair and Tom Radcliffe as Director of Cricket and as new members of the Committee. Both have been heavily involved in the youth section at the Club for a number of years and will aim to add real value to drive the Club forwards.

Kerry has been involved in the junior section for a few years as an admin manager. Both her children Archie and Olivia play for the junior section with Archie venturing into the Menโ€™s teams last season. Kerry herself has returned cricket after a long hiatus and now plays for our ladies team.

Tom is an active member of the Club. He is a qualified coach within the youth section and has three daughters that play within the girlsโ€™ programme. He has played within the senior section at the Club as well as being a player within the county pathway in his youth and has featured at other clubs in the county at various levels.

The first meeting of the New Year is in January where we plan ahead for the 2025 season and map out the plan for year building on what is already in place and adding new ideas to enable growth across the board at the Club.

So we say goodbye to another season, 2024 was full of ups and downs and some very funny moments.

With our 1s narrowly missing out on promotion, means we go again in 2025 and come back better and stronger. Well done to Matthew Williams for steering the ship this year, I donโ€™t think youโ€™ll meet a more motivational bloke over text!.

Unfortunately our 2s have been relegated, a big thank you to Ed Burrows for stepping up and leading the seconds this season. We go back to work and plan for 2025.

We still have our U15 girls National Cup Final to play on the 14th of September at LORDS. We wish our girls all the best.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, from ground staff to bar staff to cleaners. Your hard work doesnโ€™t go unnoticed.

2025 canโ€™t come soon enough ๐Ÿ

Today the Apperley community showed just how much of a tight knit community we are. We all celebrated Liz Wilkes life in the best way we know how. Cricket! With over 1000ยฃ raised in aid of dialysis research.!

Anthony Wilkes (husband of Liz) and Henry (Son) donned a purple shirt each for the day Anthony even opened the batting and bowling for the chairmanโ€™s XI.

A glorious knock from the chairman, with Henry at the other end cheering along.

A big thank you to all of our raffle donations and an even bigger thank you to all who made the day a massive success! An emotional day for all but a life well celebrated.

Who won you ask? Of course the chairmanโ€™s XI! ๐Ÿ’œ
