Halifax Ladies & Girls RUFC

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at the annual Trex Sevens event yesterday! All in all we had 8 women's teams take part, and it even got so busy on the day we had to shut the car park!

Thanks to all the teams that took part, but big shout out to the final winners, the Halifax "Old Girls" who proved age is just a number!

It was a really close final game against Sheffield RUFC Women who also put on a amazing show throughout the day, really showing the best of ladies rugby 💪

We can't wait till next year!

Our girls team are heading back to training on Thursday 2nd July...and you could join them! Our girls are coached by RFU qualified coaches, some of who also play for our ladies team!

WHO'S YOUR SPORTING ROLE MODEL? Rachel is my rugby role model, I aspire to be even half the person she is at her age (fit as a fiddle)!

WHAT TOPIC COULD YOU TALK NON-STOP ABOUT? My job - I'm a primary school PE teacher, so have loads of stories!

IF YOU COULD BE AN ANIMAL WHAT WOULD YOU BE? A dog - they live the dream life!

ONE FUN FACT - I've never, ever had a yellow/ red card in my 12 years of playing rugby! 😇

A big congratulations to all the ladies who have now achieved 50 caps for Halifax! It was great to celebrate this fantastic achievement at our presentation do...with the ladies being presented with certificates and a shiny medal!

We've been out and about again this weekend watching our Lauren Bolger playing for Yorkshire! She even got a cheeky try in the process!

Yorkshire beat Eastern Counties in their semi-final match yesterday 46-12, and now go through to the final. 💪

Our final award for 2025/26...and you could say we've left best till last! Player's Player is the prize that we vote for as players, so it is a real honour to win it!

Courtney Moss has been our captain for the past two seasons, and she is always consistent in her messages of support, always checking in on all of us throughout highs and lows.

On the pitch she leads by example, keeping a level head in some tight spots. We're sure Courtney feels proud, being voted for by your team-mates is a great honour!

Our coach Andy is always looking for us to learn and improve, so the Most Improved Award is very valued!

Amy Jones has achieved her 100th cap this year, but that has not led her to rest on her laurels, she is consistent in her training and is always trying to improve. She has excelled in individual work ons, and fills in in other positions when needed.

Congrats to AJ!
