🏸 Hamilton Highlights | Week 40 🏸

What a fantastic way to kick off the new league season!

This week saw all four Hamilton teams take to the courts for the first round of league fixtures, and while the results were evenly split with two wins and two defeats, there were plenty of positives to celebrate.

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see several of our newer players proudly pulling on a Hamilton shirt for the very first time. League squash can be a daunting experience, but everyone rose to the challenge and contributed to a brilliant team effort. 💙

🏆 League Results

🥇 Hamilton 1 17-4 Western 2 ✅

An excellent start for our reigning Division 1 Champions as they begin the defence of last season’s title in style.

🥈 Western 3 15-9 Hamilton 2

A tough away fixture, but another valuable collection of league points.

🥉 Hamilton 3 15-3 Glasgow University 2 ✅

A fantastic home victory and another strong team performance.

🏅 Whitecraigs LTC 5 15-5 Hamilton 4

A difficult evening against an experienced side, but lots of positives to take into the next fixture.

Overall, a brilliant start to the season with valuable points collected across every division. 👏

The countdown is almost over!

Our brand-new Hamilton Junior Squash Academy starts this Friday 9th October, and we’re delighted that our first juniors have already signed up.

There are still a few places available for children aged 8 to 16 years, so if your son or daughter would like to give squash a try, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re delighted that our first young players have already signed up for the Hamilton Junior Squash Academy, which starts on Friday 9th October.

There are still places available, so if you have a child aged 8 to 16 who would like to give squash a try, we’d love to hear from you.

🏆 League Season Begins!

The countdown is almost over…

Our league campaign begins on Wednesday 30th September, with both our 1st Team and 3rd Team playing at home from 6:45pm.

The 1st Team begins the defence of last season’s West of Scotland Division 1 title, and we’d love to see plenty of support from around the club.

If you’ve never watched league squash before, come along! It’s a great evening of competitive squash, and everyone is welcome.

We’re incredibly excited to announce the launch of the Hamilton Junior Squash Academy, with our first sessions planned to begin on Friday 9th October!

Designed for young people aged 8 to 16 years, the Academy is all about introducing children to one of the world’s healthiest sports in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

🕞 Two coached 45-minute sessions between 3:30pm and 5:00pm

👧🧒 Open to children aged 8 to 16 years

Whether your child has never picked up a racket before or already has some experience, they’ll receive a warm welcome.

Scottish Squash is delighted to launch Wee Smashers, a brand-new 8-week long programme that will provide children across Scotland with access to free squash coaching. 🎉

Funded by Sportscotland's Summer of Sport, clubs can now enrol to deliver the free coaching sessions which will take place January - March 2027.

🏆 SCOTTISH CLUB OF THE YEAR? 🏆

Well… not quite yet! But we’re incredibly proud to announce that Hamilton Squash Club has been nominated for Scottish Club of the Year! 💙

It’s fantastic recognition for everything that’s happening at the club and a reflection of the hard work put in by our volunteers, coaches, players and members.

And the good news doesn’t stop there…

🌟 Maggie Farrell has been nominated for Masters Player of the Year.

🏆 Our 1st Team has been nominated for Team of the Year after making history by winning the West of Scotland 1st Division for the very first time.

Congratulations to everyone involved. These achievements belong to the whole Hamilton Squash Club community.

🏅 Hamilton Players Shine at the Tayside & Fife Masters

Hamilton was well represented at this weekend’s Tayside & Fife Masters Regional Tournament.

In the Over 35s, there was a friendly all-Hamilton battle as Chris Farrell and Stewart Henderson played each other for 7th and 8th place. With local bragging rights at stake, Stewart came out on top. 👏

Chris clearly hadn’t had enough squash for one day, as he also entered the Over 40s event! After a long day on court, he finished in 10th place.

Joining him in the Over 40s was Calum Philip, who had a fantastic tournament. Playing some outstanding squash throughout the weekend, Calum reached the final and finished runner-up, narrowly losing 3-1 to Jacques Laas.

Congratulations to Chris Farrell, Stewart Henderson and Calum Philip on representing Hamilton Squash Club so brilliantly! 💙

👦👧 Open Day Success!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Day on Saturday 12th September.

It was fantastic to see so many local children on court, smiling, learning new skills and enjoying their first taste of squash.

A special thank you to all our volunteers and coaches who helped make the day such a success. We hope to see many of those new faces back at the club very soon!
