Got a few long timers leaving this week. Their swim journey from nervous 4yr olds to confident competent swimmers now complete. There may be tears (mine) so if I keep my goggles on...that'll be why 😢 It's a privilege & a pleasure to teach such a life skill & earn such trust, but it's emotional for me when they leave. 🏊🏻☹️😊

It's finally fun week! Yay! 🏊🏻😀
If you're unable to come this week, please let me know.
See you all in the pool. 🏊🏻

Swimming does more for kids than fitness…

It changes behavior. Not because it burns energy. Because of what water does to the nervous system.

Hydrostatic pressure, the gentle weight of water surrounding the body, activates the same calming response as deep pressure therapy.

That’s why overstimulated kids often come out of the pool calmer, more focused, and more regulated than when they went in. Not tired. Centered.

For sensory-sensitive children, swimming is one of the few environments that doesn’t overwhelm. No loud whistles.

No chaotic team dynamics. No bright stadium lights. Just water, rhythm, and the child’s own body learning to coordinate breath, stroke, kick, and rotation simultaneously.

That coordination matters more than it sounds. It builds the kind of focused, internal multitasking that calm, resilient children are made of.

A child learning to float isn’t just learning a survival skill. They’re learning to regulate fear. To tolerate discomfort.

To try again after failing. That’s the brain architecture that shows up later as academic resilience, emotional regulation, and comfort with uncertainty.

A large-scale study of over 80,000 adults found swimmers have a 28% lower risk of early death and a 41% lower risk of cardiovascular disease mortality. The habit that starts in childhood compounds for a lifetime.

Swipe through to see every reason therapists recommend it.

When choosing swimwear for your child. GO BRIGHT! As demonstrated here by Cole. Much easier to see should they end up at the bottom of the pool 🫣😱🙈
