Welcome to the Improve PT studio gym.
This is where most of my 1-2-1 and small group coaching takes place — a private training space designed to help people feel comfortable, supported and able to train effectively without the intimidation that many people feel in busy commercial gyms.
The aim here has never been to create a flashy bodybuilding gym.
Instead, the focus is on giving clients the tools they need to become:✔️ stronger✔️ fitter✔️ more mobile✔️ more confident✔️ and more capable in everyday life.
The studio includes:🏋️ Strength equipment🚣 Rowing erg🏃 Treadmill💪 Kettlebells & dumbbells🧘 Mobility & rehab equipment⚡ Functional training tools including TRX suspension straps
Everything is used to adapt sessions to the individual — whether someone is • returning to exercise• improving general fitness• managing a health condition• training for sport• reducing aches and pains• or simply wanting to feel healthier and stronger again
Most importantly, it’s a space where people can train without feeling judged or overwhelmed.

A lot of people are nervous about starting personal training because they imagine it has to involve:❌ being shouted at❌ endless burpees❌ feeling judged❌ “no pain no gain”❌ trying to train like a 22-year-old athlete
In reality, most sessions with me look much more like this:✔️ improving strength safely✔️ building confidence gradually✔️ moving better✔️ working around injuries or health conditions✔️ learning consistency✔️ training hard enough to progress, but sensibly enough to recover
Every client is different.
Some want to improve fitness and lose weight. Some want to stay strong as they get older. Some want to reduce aches and pains. Some want better sports performance. Some simply want to feel healthier and more capable again.
Good coaching isn’t about destroying people. It’s about helping them make steady progress they can actually sustain long

Hi, I’m Andy — the person behind Improve PT.
I’ve been coaching people for over 12 years, helping clients become fitter, stronger, healthier and more capable in everyday life.
Interestingly, I wasn’t always sporty or fitness-focused myself. I only got into fitness after learning to row at the age of 30. That experience completely changed my outlook on health, training and what the body is capable of with consistency and patience.
These days I’m still a competitive masters rower alongside coaching personal training clients and junior rowing crews in Liverpool.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned over the years is that most people don’t fail because they’re lazy or incapable — they usually either overcomplicate fitness or give up before the results have time to happen.
My approach is simple:supportive, structured and realistic coaching designed around real life.
I particularly enjoy helping people who’ve struggled with pain, health issues or confidence and seeing them start to feel stronger and better in themselves again.
Outside coaching, life mostly revolves around family, rowing, the gym and watching Liverpool FC.
This page will be a mix of coaching ideas, training, rowing, mobility, strength work and general health and fitness content.
Thanks for following along.

What is Improve PT about?
After more than 12 years coaching people from all walks of life, one thing has become increasingly clear to me:
Most people don’t need extreme fitness.
They need to feel stronger, healthier, more confident and more capable in everyday life.
That might mean• reducing aches and pains• improving mobility• rebuilding fitness after illness or injury• staying active as we get older• improving sports performance• or simply having more energy and confidence
My coaching is built around realistic, sustainable training for real people — especially adults 40+ who want to improve their health and fitness without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed.
No gimmicks. No punishment. No “all or nothing” mentality.
Just sensible coaching, consistency and long-term progress.
Every client is different, which is why sessions are adapted to the individual — whether that’s training for rowing performance, improving general health, or working safely with managed health conditions.
The goal is simple:help people stay strong, capable and able to enjoy life for as long as possible. To Improve their health and fitness.

8 weeks to British Masters…
12 weeks to Henley Masters…
That’s enough time to get faster — if you train smart.
Most masters rowers either skip strength work
or do it in a way that clashes with rowing.
Result? More fatigue, not more speed
Done properly, strength training should:
* improve drive
* reduce injury risk
* make you more effective on the water
You don’t need more training.
You need better placed training.
I’m working with a small group of masters rowers on this now.
If you want to get more out of the next 8–12 weeks,
message me or comment ROW.
