Even if you have never been here, there could come a time when u do. And by then, all the interesting and quirky little shops could be corporate franchises and fast food emporiums. So please sign and help our historical heritage survive a corporate onslaught, who the only ones who can survive high and increasing rents and rates, but destroy city and local truly British character.
Stop the corporate takeover of Greenwich town centre
The latest casualty of the exorbitant retail rents charged by Greenwich Hospital is the excellent vintage shop Joli, closing down this week. We understand Greenwich Hospital has to make money for its charitable concerns but, with imagination, this can be done without destroying the livelihoods of sm...

Derek's son and a good friend at the top of the final steep hill before dropping down to Brighton and the Beach to gain their medals. Well done guys! At around 55-60 miles from Clapham Common London and with fabulous Sussex County countryside around you, ending down on the world-famous Brighton Beach, the 'London to Brighton' is a terrific annual charity fundraiser, and a chance to exercise those muscles you never realised you had! The wind was strong and a little rain en route, but the sun shone too, and the ice cream van on the last hilltop was a welcome sight! Was Elliot sore the next day?? For sure, in parts we don't mention haha! but... he's promised we'll tackle it together next year...for if we do๐ Maybe on a bike?

2 pics from clients this weekend. Sarah and Jon. Heres the message from Sarah!
Hi Derek. Thanks for today. Just wanted to put up some sort of review on Tripadvisor or similar, but couldnโt find an appropriate link. Please accept this by way of a review, to do with as you feel appropriate. Piccies to follow, if of any use:
Hubby and I were staying in Greenwich for a short break from up North. Cycling was hopeful on our to do list, and I contacted Derek from Greenwich Cycle Hire by a whatsapp link on his page the day before. He was immediately responsive and we arranged to meet the following day to pick up bikes. We planned to cycle the Thames Path from the Thames barrier to Tower Bridge and back, approx 22 miles in total. Access to the Thames Path was a five minute ride from the bike rental premises. The rented bikes were basic and comfortable and perfect for our planned day, with reasonable rental rates. Derek was friendly and responsive to our needs, with helmets offered and local knowledge provided. The ride was enjoyable, flat with good surfaces and well signposted. Would recommend Derekโs services, and this route in particular, to any fellow travellers who wish to take in the London sights without too much strain involved. Sarah from Yorkshire.

The cycle-mad city that doesn't stop for snow
Oulu in northern Finland has snow on the ground for five months - but that doesnโt stop residents using their bikes.

Great guy from Ukraine and his lovely wife enjoying London in the sunshine away from the traffic on one of our Giant bikes. Better than Santander? better than Lime etc? Really do you need to ask that question haha! Take a 'real' bike out and enjoy the secret parts of London you'd never see in one of those dated machines restricted to jammed-up main roads, what were they called again? Cars? Think my grandad remembers them, not fondly though....๐ฅธ

A great bunch of teens with adults over from Belgium on an EU initiative, 18 go off on a ride along our Thames Path and up into Greenwich Park to follow. Started out a bunch of 'a little bored' looking teens, came back with smiles all around. Makes life worth living to see that, it's what we're here for ๐
