Fold yoga is a studio for real bodies and real lives.

You don’t need to be more flexible before you arrive. You don’t need the right clothes, the right body, a calm mind or an impressive practice.

And there are no prizes for touching your toes. We’re interested in something different.

Movement that meets the body you actually live in.

Practice that has room for tiredness, energy, ageing, change, uncertainty and everything else that comes with being human.

Because bodies aren’t static, and neither are lives.

Some days you might feel strong and expansive. Other days, getting yourself through the door might be the practice.

Both belong here.

Our studio isn’t centred around achievement or performing a version of wellness. It’s a place to move, breathe, rest, explore and experience yourself without needing to become anything first.

Come exactly as you are.

Meet our space.

The spaces we inhabit matter.

The light. The warmth. The floor beneath us. The objects we place with intention. The way we are welcomed when we arrive.

We don’t see the studio as simply a room where practice happens. The space itself is part of the experience.

A place to arrive.
To exhale.
To move.
To rest.
To be with others.
To be with yourself.

There is ritual in preparing a space, sweeping, laying out the mats, folding the blankets, lighting the altar, opening the doors.

Small acts of care that say, ‘you are welcome here.’

Because how a space holds us can change our experience, how able we feel we can soften, explore, move and simply be.

This is our space.

Not perfect. Not performative.
Lived in, cared for, and ready to hold whatever you arrive with.

Join Mike Sutton this Sunday!

As we move into autumn, it can feel like a natural time to slow down, turn inward and reconnect with our practice.

Join Mike for a special two-hour Sādhana, exploring all multiple aspects of yoga practice.

Practise in silence, moving through mantra, pranayama, Surya Namaskar, asana and Nidra. There’ll be time to stay in postures and simply notice the breath, body and mind.
No music, no adjustments and no advanced postures. Just time and space to practise.

A simple way to mark the transition into a new season and perhaps reconnect with what yoga can offer beyond movement.

Open to everyone with a curiosity to go a little deeper.

⭐️ New Class ⭐️

Starts Next week, Sept 16th 10.30am, spices are limited so book you spot now!

This class brings my worlds together, Yoga and bodywork 🥰 helping you to find a deeper connection to your practice and to your body, read more to find out what to expect…

Align with a Kirsty

This class supports you to find alignment through your body, breath, mind and beyond. We begin with guided meditation and pranayama to ground and anchor you in your body, before moving into a detailed asana practice, exploring alignment from within and discovering how to find it in your own body.

We then move into a short myofascial release practise using massage balls and props, releasing tension and creating space as we journey towards a deep, restorative Svasana. This practice is particularly beneficial for easing musculoskeletal pain, improving mobility and reducing stress, helping you to move with greater freedom and ease.

Taking a holistic approach, this practice brings together yoga philosophy and bodywork to support balance throughout the whole body. By working with both the physical body and the more subtle aspects of our experience, we create space for greater awareness, ease and connection. Expect to leave feeling grounded, spacious and deeply connected, with your body singing from the inside out, and the outside in.

The wisdom of transition…

As summer begins to soften into autumn, we find ourselves in a natural time of transition. The mornings become cooler, the evenings draw in and the world around us slowly begins to change. Summer brings a sense of expansion, more light, movement, connection and time outdoors. As we move towards autumn, we naturally begin to turn inward.

Yoga reminds us that change is a natural part of life. Our bodies, breath, thoughts and experiences are constantly moving and evolving. Rather than needing everything to stay the same, our practice can teach us to become more comfortable with this movement.

in yoga philosophy, life is understood as a constant expression of consciousness , a rhythm of movement and stillness, expansion and contraction. The changing seasons reflect this beautifully.

As summer comes to an end, it can also be a lovely time to return to our practice. Perhaps summer has shifted our usual routines, or given us space to step away from the mat. As autumn approaches, we can gently find our way back. Not with pressure or expectation, but simply as an opportunity to reconnect, with our body, our breath, our mind and with ourselves.

Our practice gives us a space to pause and notice where we are right now.So as we move into a new season, perhaps ask yourself, What would it feel like to return to your mat? Not to achieve anything, but simply to create a little space to breathe, move, listen and reconnect.

Like the seasons, our practice will naturally ebb and flow. There is always an opportunity to begin again.

Meet Liz…

This week we welcome Liz onto our timetable as she covers for Charlottes Sunday Service.

Recently graduated from Rise Academy Fold Yoga, Liz has inspired us with her fun dynamic flows paired with a philosophical approach to cyclical living as nature.

Keen to experience Liz’s class? Liz will be taking class for the next two Sundays at 10am

Here’s a little more from Liz about her yoga journey…

I have been practising yoga for about 10 years, although it has evolved massively from watching youtube videos on the floor in my bedroom to now going to amazing classes every week. I have a fairly stressful full time job and struggle with anxiety, and so the hour dedicated to yoga and my breath has been so important for my mental and physical health. I recently completed my 200 hour training at Rise Academy, where my understanding of yoga philosophy became an important part of my life. I love coordinating a yoga flow with the elements, emotions, and time of year at that moment.

I believe it is important for us to connect more with nature and have more community in our daily lives, and from my experience, yoga is a wonderful way to do that.

Yoga for me is a balance between celebrating being physically strong and also taking the time to rest. I love fun and challenging shapes and am happy to guide people mindfully through these, but equally slow and relaxing movements. Yoga is a practice for everyone and every body, and I will encourage everyone to meet the shapes where they feel good for them. The joy, comfort, and exploration that yoga has given me is something that I hope to share with anyone who joins me, it is a privilege!

Monthly Sunday Sadhana is back next weekend!

Join Mike Sutton for a special Sadhana - a spiritual practice during which he will introduce you to a way to connect with your consciousness, going beyond physical practice and exploring a deeper understanding of yourself.

‘Sadh’ - go straight to
This is how Yoga began. In many ways, it is the true yoga of a spiritual practice

Sadhana is considered deeply important in spiritual and yogic traditions because it is a disciplined, daily practice that serves as a tool for personal transformation, inner purification, and connecting the individual to the philosphy.

Whilst, away on his 30 day training, Mike practiced this sadanah at sunrise and continues with it now at home. This is a chance to try the same sadanah and explore a focused and thoughtful practice.

“ Sadanah is a wonderful way to start the day, it brings awareness, positivity and joy, reminding me of the true purpose of Yoga and the blessings it brings.”

Observation of silence before and during practice
Mantra
Pranayama
Surya Namaskar (saluting the sun)
