Where business performance creates real freedom. You have built a solid business. It works. But behind the scenes, it relies on you more than you want.
We work with business owners ready to take their business to the next level by strengthening whatโs working, refining what holds performance back, and creating the freedom to live life on their own terms. You are still carrying the decisions, the expectations, and the responsibility. Even when things are going great, it is hard to fully switch off. The business performs, but it does not feel how y
ou want it to feel. At this stage, the answer is not more effort or more tactics. It is strengthening the foundations, so the business performs consistently without depending on you. That is what we do at The Business Fixer. We strengthen what is already working and refine what holds performance back, putting the right foundations in place so the business no longer depends on you. This creates the freedom to lead, to step back, and the ability to choose what comes next. A different approach to business performance
We work with established service based business owners who are ready to take their business to the next level without sacrificing their life, values, or sense of self to get there. Our work focuses on refining what is already working and addressing what quietly limits performance. Through The Business Fixer Toolkit, we create structure and clarity across the core areas of the business so performance is consistent and sustainable, without everything running through you. The Business Fixer Toolkit is built on lessons learned through real experience, so you do not have to learn them the hard way inside your own business. When the foundations are right, growth takes care of itself.
๐ What we focus on
The Business Fixer Toolkit supports business owners across:
Business Planning
Clear direction, priorities, and a practical roadmap for decision making. Financial Performance
Confidence in the numbers that matter, predictable cash flow, and informed choices. Marketing
Clear positioning and consistent activity that attracts the right clients. Sales
Simple, effective processes that convert well and do not rely on owner involvement. Client Delivery
Clear expectations, systems, and ownership that protect quality without constant oversight. Leadership and Mindset
Stepping fully into the role of leader rather than operator, building team ownership, and moving away from carrying everything yourself. Each area is strengthened in the right order, creating progress without overwhelm.
๐งญ How we work
Our coaching is clear, direct, and supportive. We work alongside you to provide structure and accountability, without taking control away. As clarity increases and pressure reduces, many clients rediscover their energy and enjoyment in their business. This is not about quick fixes or growth at any cost. It is about building a business that performs consistently and creates the freedom to live life on your own terms.
๐ฅ Who this is for
The Business Fixer works with established business owners who have built something solid, but know the business still relies on them more than it should. They are ready to strengthen performance, reduce dependency, and lead with greater clarity and control, without losing what they have already built.
โก๏ธ Next step
A Business Performance Strategy Session gives you the space to step back from the day to day and look clearly at where the business is performing consistently, where it is relying on you too heavily, and what needs attention next. It is a focused conversation designed to create clarity and direction, and to determine whether working together is the right fit. You can book a free Business Performance Strategy Session using the button on this page. If you are not ready for a conversation yet, the Business Performance Health Check is a practical starting point to assess where the business is performing well and where it may be relying on you too heavily.

A few weeks ago, someone messaged me after seeing one of my posts. ๐ฑ
Not to say hello. To tell me who I am.
Based on one post. Out of context. Read in about ten seconds.
Apparently they had me all figured out. ๐
I read it, felt that little flicker of "well that's not fair"...
And then got on with my afternoon.
A few years ago, I'd have sat with that for hours. Maybe longer.
Wondering if there was something to it. Whether other people saw me the same way. Whether I needed to do something about it.
This time? It just... passed.
And that difference says a lot about what actually separates business owners who keep moving forward from those who plateau.
It's not luck. It's not connections. It's not having an easier run of things.
It's how they're built to respond to what happens.
A bad month for one owner becomes a story about why things never work out.
For another, it's one slow month in an otherwise reasonable run. Filed away. Moved past.
The events aren't that different. โ๏ธ
What's different is the internal operating system processing them.
And here's the part that matters most:
That operating system isn't fixed. ๐
The qualities that let some owners keep moving through exactly the same conditions that stall others?
They can be built. Deliberately. Gradually. Regardless of where you're starting from.
A settled sense of self. Resilience. Consistency.
Not personality traits you were either born with or weren't. Built through repetition, in fairly ordinary ways, by anyone willing to put the building blocks in place. Which is exactly what this week's blog is about. ๐
If you've ever wondered why some weeks feel solid and others fall apart for no clear reason, or why progress doesn't always show up the way you'd expect, even when you're putting in the effort, this one's for you.
Most people donโt stay stuck because they lack ambition.
They stay stuck because they stay comfortable.
The usual routines.
The safe decisions.
The โIโll do it when the time feels rightโ mindset.
But the truth is, growth rarely feels comfortable.
It asks you to take chances before you feel ready.
To step into uncertainty.
To do things differently, even when it would be easier not to.
What you want next in your life or business will almost always require a version of you thatโs willing to take a risk.
โจ A risk to be seen
โจ A risk to try something new
โจ A risk to back yourself when there are no guarantees
Because playing it safe might protect you from failureโฆ but it can also keep you exactly where you are.
This week, ask yourself:
Where am I choosing comfort over growth? ๐ค
And what would happen if you chose differently?
You donโt need to take a huge leap.
Just one bold step outside of your โusualโ can change everything. ๐
Because ordinary outcomes are built on safe decisionsโฆ but extraordinary ones come from the risks youโre willing to take. ๐ซ
One of the biggest challenges business owners face isn't a lack of knowledge.
It's perspective.
When you're in the business every day, dealing with clients, managing a team, solving problems, and making decisions, it's easy to become so close to everything that you can't see what's really holding you back.
Sometimes the next breakthrough doesn't come from working harder.
It comes from thinking differently.
That's why mindset matters.
Not the fluffy, motivational kind.
The practical kind that helps you:
๐ฃ See opportunities where you previously saw obstacles
๐ฃ Challenge assumptions that are limiting growth
๐ฃ Make decisions with greater confidence
๐ฃ Step out of firefighting mode and focus on what really matters
๐ฃ Lead the business instead of being consumed by it
Often, the businesses we work with already have more potential than they realise.
They don't necessarily need more ideas.
They need clarity.
A different perspective.
And sometimes someone willing to ask the questions they've not thought to ask themselves.
Thank you, Edward, for your kind words and for recognising the value of that work. ๐
If you've ever felt like you're working hard but not quite seeing the progress you expected, it might not be a strategy problem.
It might be time to look at things differently. ๐ญ

๐จ Calling Essex service-based business owners
(and surrounding areas)
Let me ask you something.
Could your business grow without you?
If you stepped away for a few monthsโฆ
would things keep moving forward, or would everything slow down?
Because for a lot of businesses, this is where things start to feel harder than they should.
The business is working.
Clients are coming in.
But everything still runs through you.
And at some point, that becomes the thing that holds growth back.
Thatโs exactly why I created the Business Beyond You Workshop.
A day to step out of the day-to-day, look properly at where the business still depends on you, and make the key decisions for the next stage.
Iโll also be working directly with you throughout the day, so you can ask questions about your own business and get practical guidance based on real experience โ not generic advice.
Early bird tickets at ยฃ97 end tonight at 11:59pm.
If youโve been considering it, now is the time to take a look.

Business growth isn't just about strategy.
It's about having the confidence to make decisions, the accountability to follow through, and the right support around you when challenges arise.
At The Business Fixer, we believe lasting success comes from more than systems and plans alone.
โจ Empowerment โ helping business owners trust themselves and lead with confidence.
โจ Accountability โ turning intentions into action and action into results.
โจ Transformation โ creating meaningful change that improves both business performance and personal fulfilment.
โจ Alignment โ building partnerships based on trust, shared values, and mutual respect.
Because when the right foundations are in place, business becomes easier to lead, decisions become clearer, and growth feels more sustainable.
๐ก When the foundations are right, growth takes care of itself.
If you're ready to create a business that performs consistently and gives you more time for what matters most...
You know you need more support in the business, but finding the right person isn't always straightforward.
Is it a lack of quality applicants?
Too many CVs but not the right fit?
The time it takes to recruit?
Or perhaps keeping great people once you've found them?
Building the right team is about more than filling a vacancy. The right people can help reduce owner dependency, increase capacity, and create the freedom to focus on leading the business rather than constantly being in the day-to-day. ๐
๐ฌ Comment A, B, C or D below. I'd love to hear what's really going on behind the scenes too.

For years, I had a list. ๐
Not a vague list either. An actual list of everything I wanted in a partner.
Ambition. โ
Confidence. โ
A genuinely good sense of humour. โ
And somewhere near the top of the list...
Six foot or above. ๐
Non-negotiable, I told myself.
Then I started talking to someone who ticks every meaningful box.
The ambition is there.
The confidence is there.
The humour is definitely there.
And because he has everything that actually matters, the fact he's slightly shorter than my self-imposed ideal barely even registered.
Funny how that works, isn't it?
We convince ourselves certain things are essential until something comes along that makes us realise they never really were.
Business owners do exactly the same thing when they hire.
They create their own version of the list.
Usually not written down, but sitting somewhere in their head.
A certain qualification.
A specific amount of experience.
A particular industry background.
A degree.
A certain type of CV.
And before long they've mixed up what they genuinely need with what they've simply convinced themselves they need.
The result?
โ Great candidates get filtered out for the wrong reasons.
โ Poor candidates get hired because they ticked all the surface-level boxes.
โ The business owner ends up carrying even more responsibility than before.
Because the best hire isn't always the one with the most experience.
It's often the person with the right attitude, behaviours, values and cultural fit.
Yet most business owners don't discover that until after they've made a costly mistake.
The reality is that most hiring mistakes happen before the first advert is ever published.
Not during the interview.
Not during onboarding.
Before the process has even started.
Because if you're not clear on what the role actually needs, every decision that follows becomes harder.
The businesses that hire well aren't lucky.
They're clear.
Clear on what the role is.
Clear on what success looks like.
And clear on the difference between what's essential and what's simply desirable.
Because hiring isn't really about filling a vacancy.
It's about deciding what kind of business you're building.
Every person you bring into your team either gives you more freedom, more capacity and more confidence to step back... or creates another layer of dependency that keeps you stuck in the middle of everything.
The right hire becomes much easier to spot when you know what you're actually looking for. ๐ฏ
If you've ever wondered whether it's the right time to hire, who you should hire first, or why previous recruitment decisions haven't worked out as planned, I've broken down the entire process in this week's blog.
Not a vague list either. An actual list of everything I wanted in a partner.
Ambition. โ
Confidence. โ
A great sense of humour. โ
And somewhere near the topโฆ
Six foot or above.
Completely non-negotiable, apparently.
Then I started talking to someone who ticks every meaningful box, and suddenly the height didnโt seem nearly as important as Iโd convinced myself it was.
Funny how that works.
Business owners do exactly the same thing when they hire.
They create their own version of the list.
Qualifications.
Experience.
Industry background.
The perfect CV.
And before long theyโve mixed up what they genuinely need with what theyโve simply convinced themselves they need.
Thatโs why so many hiring decisions go wrong before the interview process has even started.
Not because the candidates are wrong.
Because the criteria are.
If youโre wondering whether itโs the right time to hire, who to hire first, or how to avoid making an expensive recruitment mistake, Iโve covered it in my latest blog.

I don't often talk about why I left the law.
But it's the reason I do what I do โ so it feels relevant here.
For seven years I ran a law firm. I carried everything: clients, team, decisions, standards. It all sat with me.
Then I went through a regulatory investigation.
It was the test of my life.
I came through it. But it pushed me further than I'd ever been before โ and ultimately, it led to my breakdown.
My breakdown became my breakthrough.
Because on the other side of it, I realised something I couldn't unsee:
I didn't want other business owners to have to learn things the hard way like I did.
So I closed the law firm, rebuilt my life, and created The Business Fixer.
Everything I teach comes from that experience. Not theory โ what actually works when you're trying to build a business that doesn't depend entirely on you to function.
That's what I'll be sharing in a free live webinar on 10th June.
Sometimes the biggest shift doesn't come from doing more. It comes from letting go of what's weighing you down.
The doubts.
The setbacks.
The habits, thoughts, and stories that no longer belong in the future you're creating.
This week, choose to focus on whatโs possible. Trust the progress you're making, celebrate how far you've already come, and keep moving forward with confidence.
Your next chapter isn't built by looking backwards. It's built by believing there's something even better ahead. โจ
Have an amazing week and don't be afraid to let your light shine bright. ๐ซ
