2024 marked probably our finest year to date as the club went from strength to strength, with much success both on the pitch and off of it.

Many thanks to all those that continue to support us, contribute to our running and growth, support our events, or give up their time to coach one of our teams, man our kitchen, maintain our grounds, or whatever your involvement is.

2025 has all the potential to be even better as we’re excited to launch a range of new opportunities, improve our facility and invest further in our players and coaches.

From all of us to all of you, have a Happy New Year, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025!!

πŸ”΄βš«οΈ Meden Vale Colts 4-2 AC United πŸ”΄βš«οΈ

The Vale come away with all 3 points in a fiesty encounter, infront of a large Vale support. The players were accompanied by mascots from a variety of our youth teams, on their entrance to the pitch.

This result sees us overtake the opposition in the league table, moving us up to 4th in the league pending a couple of today’s results.

For the 3rd game in succession, the Vale squad featured 4 of our youth team players that’ve seen their hard work rewarded with valuable minutes and experience with the first team. 16 year old Billy Bodsworth made his second start for the first team following his introduction last week, and deservedly picked up man of the match today, having made multiple big saves at crucial points of the match.

Joel Whyle made his first start for the first team today, playing a vital role leading the forward line and giving the opposition centre halves a headache throughout the match, with them struggling to deal with his hold up play, allowing space in behind for the wingers.

From minute one Vale dominated the game, winning their individual battles across the pitch and breaking the lines of the opposition on multiple occasions. Goals from Alfie G and Jord Smith saw us take a deserved 2-0 lead in the opening half an hour, with Alfie G finding the net again, before it was controversially ruled out for offside. AC United then put away one of their few chances in the first period, HT 2-1.

On the 60 minute mark, G Camps won a penalty. Having been denied from the spot the previous week, Jake Smith stepped up and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, sending the keeper the wrong way. Centre back Charlie Broadhead saw red after a second yellow card. After 75 minutes, AC’s No.9 found himself 1 on 1 with a chance to bring his side back into the match, and Billy made his best save yet, which led directly to Jeppo finding G Camps in behind, before he lobbed the keeper from 30 yards to put the game to bed. With 5 minutes to go the AC United centre half scored directly from a free kick which Billy came close to denying aswell.

This was a huge result for the lads, handing AC United only their second loss of the season. Injuries and illness saw Jeppo fill in at left back, Singo pairing with Chaz at centre half, and Brendan Arnold at Right back, all of which put in solid performances and gave the opposition little joy. Having come off injured against Bingham last time out, Mason Broadhead made himself available for selection despite being far from full fitness, and completed the usual midfield trio with Jake and Jord smith that battled for every loose ball for the full 90 minutes.

Next up is another big game for the lads, at home again, to Kimberly, who sit at the top of the table.

πŸ’· Club Tote Fundraiser πŸ’·

Morning all. Hope you’ve all had a fantastic Xmas. Wishing you all a Happy New Year when it comes.

Our Club Tote was won last Saturday, scooping a huge Β£2,000 for the winner! What a Christmas present!

We’ve had 10 winners in 2024, sharing Β£9,260 between them, with the highest amount being a whopping Β£2,760!

This has also helped raise over Β£9,000 for the club too, which helps us to afford to do all we do and to keep costs low for parents.

Cost to play is just Β£1 a week (per line) and you can have as many lines as you wish. We have over 300 players now and are keen to build this further for higher prize pots!

To play, simply select 2 numbers between 1-59 and the winner is determined by the first 2 balls out in the Saturday main national Lotto draw. If no winner, it rolls over to the next week.

If anyone is interested in joining, please message us with your 2 numbers and we’ll check these are available and add you to the game.

Bingham Town 1 v 0 Meden Vale Colts

A valiant display by the Vale away at 3rd place Bingham, played in gusty conditions and a sticky pitch. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams looking to get the ball down and play.

We travelled today with 3 of our young prodigies from our U18’s, with 16-year old Billy Bodsworth making his debut in goal, last weeks goalscoring debutant Theo Price starting on the bench with Ellis Cave.

It was a strong starting line up which was rewarded with a 90-minute battling performance that will leave Bingham grateful they squeezed over the line somehow.

The traditionally unflappable Jake Smith saw a penalty saved near the end of the first half, and the front trio of Jeppo, Alfie G and George Camps were causing problems. It was only the final strike that was absent on the day.

Smithy and Jake dug in in the middle of the park with Mason Broadhead marshalling in front of his defence well. It was a blow when he had to come off through injury midway through the second half which probably gave Bingham just the extra bit of space in front of us that led to their winning goal, less than 15 minutes from time.

It was harsh on the back 4 of Singo, Chas, Bran and Alfie Yates, who had stood firm all game. As Vale, playing on the front foot throughout the second half went looking for the opening goal, the game became stretched and Bingham were able to fire in a half volley from the edge of the box. The bounce deceived young Billy in goal and likely his view was slightly obscured so would have seen it late. The only blemish on an otherwise very strong first performance, having made a number of saves, blocks, and distributed well.

The lads were frustrated and disappointed at the final whistle as their efforts merited more and the 3 points somewhat flattered the hosts.

The defeat keeps MVC in 5th position, within reach of those above.

🦸 CENTURION!! πŸ’ͺ

Congratulations to the skipper, Brandon Davis, who becomes the first senior player to hit 100 appearances for the Vale β€οΈπŸ–€

This weekend's 7-3 win over Keyworth United Reserves was actually Bran's 103rd appearance in a Vale shirt, with his 100th coming in the 2-0 away defeat to Kimberley on 29th October.

Proving how instrumental Brandon is for the team, the Men's First Team have competed in 114 official matches so far, meaning he's only missed 11 of them.

Given the crop of youth that is now commencing through the club, with some featuring from our Under 18's in recent games, there's no better role model for them.

Well done skipper, here's to the next 100 games!

Nice to get the recognition. We’re not resting in our laurels though, the hard work starts here as we continue to raise standards in the game and offer opportunities for all our community.
