Newcastle Mona FC

So we go again another season. Think it's about time we bring back the match reports.

Following a comfortable victory last week vs Potters Inn, there was not a lot to smile about today as we lose 4-1 to Travellers Rest.

A good start to the morning when Lach and John turned up 5 minutes before kick off with the kits. A night of fun on the sofa wasn't enough for John as he got molested by their Centre Back for 90 mins.

A poor first half for the Mona, some sloppy passes and not closing down well enough resulted in us being 3-0 down at half time. Gilly was able to get in behind a couple of times but wasn't able to get a shot off, a half for him to forget.

Piszczek and Lewandowski came on at half time and made a big difference. Lukas was solid at the back and Konrad almost finished off a nice Mona move but missed an open goal at the back post. Mona had a good spell in the second half and Tyler managed to get on the end of a corner to smash home. The tent will be rocking tonight.

We conceded again late on, but they are a good side from a higher league so not a bad run out overall. Hopefully get a few players back next week and snapper can recover from one of his made up injuries.

The Mona are back tomorrow, looking to finally get kickstarting in the new campaign. Last weeks defeat sees the mona start the season with 2 Losses and 1 Win. The boys look to turn this around vs Jolly Carter this weekend who have started the season positively.

It's an exciting day for the club as we finally get to play at our new home after leaving our former ground of Sandbach Road.

⚫️🟠The first win of the season - Newcastle Mona FC 4 - 1 Cat Inn🟠⚫️

Newcastle Mona FC delivered an emphatic bounce back performance at home as they cruised to a 4-1 victory against Cat Inn, gaining their first win in the league. The win was a testament to their dominance, especially in the final third, where they created numerous chances and capitalized on the majority of them.

The match began with Newcastle Mona FC asserting their authority right from the first whistle. Their intent was clear as they controlled possession and pressed high up the pitch, putting the Cat Inn defense under immediate pressure. It didn’t take long for the home side to break the deadlock. In the 12th minute, Newcastle Mona’s midfield surfer, Jake Lloyd , with a free kick in to the box the the Cat Inn goalkeeper fumbles the ball for Ben Glover to pounce on making it 1-0.

The early goal rattled Cat Inn, who struggled to string together meaningful passages of play. Newcastle Mona continued to dictate the tempo, with their midfield trio of Jake Lloyd, Aiden Cumberbatch, and Ben Glover bossing the central areas. Their dominance paid off again in the 28th minute when Ben Glover doubled the lead. The midfielder made a late run into the box to meet a perfectly weighted cross from winger Aiden Lloyd, slotting the ball home with a cool finish.

Cat Inn, however, showed some signs of life as the half progressed. They pulled one back in the 35th minute against the run of play through Mona error. A 50 yard pass back from Aiden Lloyd lost momentum on the edge of the box forcing keeper Bogdan to commit to the ball, the Cat in pounced on the opportunity reducing the deficit to 2-1.

Despite conceding, Newcastle Mona didn’t take their foot off the pedal. They continued to push forward and try to get a foothold in the game once again.

The second half began with Cat Inn trying to get back into the game, but Newcastle Mona’s defense, marshaled by center-backs Joel Smith and Ryan Coffey, stood firm. Any hopes Cat Inn had of a comeback were dashed in the 58th minute when Newcastle Mona scored their third goal. A quick counter-attack saw Aiden Lloyd drive at the Cat defence, being to pacey for the back line he is brought down in the box and a penalty is awarded. Josh Fox steps up and puts it to the keepers left, keeper gets a hand but it is made of popadoms and the Mona to 3-1.

With a two-goal cushion restored, Newcastle Mona played with even more confidence. They controlled possession and frustrated Cat Inn, who were limited to speculative efforts from distance.

Newcastle Mona put the icing on the cake in the 82nd minute when substitute Hamish Snape, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, made it 4-1. , a loose ball on the edge of the box takes a wonder strike into the top corner, sparking wild celebrations among the home fans and putting an end to a 2 season goal drought!

The final whistle confirmed a well-deserved victory for Newcastle Mona FC, who were the better side from start to finish. Their attacking play was a joy to watch, and they defended resolutely when needed. This win puts them off to a good start in the league, while Cat Inn will need to regroup and address the defensive frailties that were exposed in this match.

The Mona are back tomorrow evening for a midweek affair vs Cat Inn. A high quality game sees the Mona narrowly lose their opening fixture vs Porthill, so the boys are looking to be ruthless vs the Cat tomorrow to make up for it and get their first win of the season.
