Lovely to see organisations like Collins Aerospace investing in their female workforce. I spent a whole day away with them, away from inboxes, tasks and meetings. This gave them the time to look at the stories they've been telling themselves about who they are and what they're capable of, and to start rewriting the ones that don't hold up. Time to name their achievements out loud and get comfortable with letting people know what they've done isn't bragging, it's building the profile they deserve to have.
Some of the women had only ever known each other as an email address. But, from the get go they were laughing about the same inner critic, comparing notes on the similar imposter thoughts, and realising their colleague from a different department is a World Irish dancing champion, has their own brownie business, spoke in Stormont, or a keen mountain biker!
This is the joy of allowing women time to focus on themselves and support their colleagues in doing the same. While the confidence tools and techniques land well, for me, it's watching people find out how remarkable their colleagues are outside of a job title, and realising that no matter the role or seniority in the room, everyone had felt some version of "I have done hard things and am capable of so much more."
I mean, look at those smiling faces, I love it! π
