Come along to watch and support the 2026 Brown Shipley Norfolk County Festival of Tennis beginning Sunday, through to 29 August at the East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club in Norwich.

With on-court action throughout the week for ages under 8 to 75+, there will also be alumni, inclusion, schools, coach events at the 98th edition. Get involved!

24 August, 9-11am: Leaders & Volunteers Workshop
25 August, 1-2pm: Tennis Able, Inclusive Tennis Session
26 August, 9:30-10:15am: Taster Session ages 5-7
26 August, 10:30-11.15am: Taster Session ages 8-10
27 August, 11am-12 noon: Tennis Able, Inclusive Tennis Session
28 August, from 4pm: Special Olympics and Visual Impairment Tennis Session
28 August 5-7pm: Men’s County Team Exhibition
28 August 5-7pm: Norfolk Tennis Alumni Drinks

A BBQ will be available evening of 28 August and from midday on 29 August.

Congratulations to Lucy on retaining her women’s wheelchair title last week at the Play Your Way to Wimbledon national finals. 🏆🙌 Well done to everyone who took part.

Anyone has a chance to play at the All England Club, Wimbledon 🍓, first competing locally at a club, park or school. Winners progress through to the County/Area finals, then the lucky few play on the famous SW19 grass.

Get involved for 2027 across a number of junior, adult and disability categories.

Wishing James Henery good luck as he departs for the next chapter of his tennis life in USA on a tennis scholarship at University.

Having coached James from 8 years old to see him progress as much as he has in recent years has been great.

Nicky Crawley Steps Down As Norfolk Men’s County Captain

After 28 years of involvement with the Norfolk Men’s County team, first as a player and more recently as captain, Nicky Crawley has announced that he is stepping down.

Making his debut in 1999 under Tony Spurgeon, Crawley went on to play a record 145 fixtures for Norfolk, competing in 320 rubbers and recording 187 victories.

He succeeded Barry Fulcher as captain in 2015 and enjoyed a successful spell at the helm, leading the county to promotion at Ilkley in 2017 and again at last year’s final ever Winter County Cup at Easton.

Reflecting on his time with the county team, Crawley said:

“I’d like to thank every teammate I’ve played alongside and every player who’s played under me as captain. The memories that have been created over the 28-year period go way beyond just hitting a tennis ball. I wish the team all the best for the future, and I look forward to coming to watch in a much more relaxed manner!”

Congratulations to Henry, who recently finished runner-up at the recent Lexus Junior National Tour Grade 2 10 & Under event on the Queenswood School clay.

Henry also had a great time with Henry, Aksel and Oliver. Keep learning and working hard. Enjoy your summer of 🎾!

Well done and thank you to all Norfolk players who competed in the LTA Summer County Cup this week.

The men’s team beat Hereford & Worcestershire 5-4 in a tense finale on day five at Cromer. Derbyshire earned the group title with a 6-3 victory over Yorkshire.

The ladies team recorded a 6-1 win over North Wales at Ilkley, where South Wales won the group title.
