Nuneaton & Bedworth Swimming Club

Last night was the annual Harvey Novice gala! It was a fun first open meet for many of our swimmers, with Nuneaton Red finishing in first place🥇and Nuneaton Blue in third place🥉!!!! We are very proud of all of the efforts of our swimmers and the amazing results. Now onto the junior league final and sprint meet next weekend 🔜

Former Head Coach Terry Freeman is organising a family fun day on Saturday 5th September in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, aiming to raise essential funds to support young patients undergoing treatment, as well as their families, during some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Please give this event a small amount of time and share with others to raise awareness!

At English nationals, Theo continued his busy schedule with the 400 and 200 freestyle, 100 and 50 breastroke and the 200 back. Both Theo and Rocco qualified for the 100 breastroke final! We had more finals this week with Lois in the 400 IM final, Rocco in the 50 breastroke final (achieving a PB!). Lois also achieved a PB in the 50 fly and was on PB pace for the 200 IM.
Erin raced the backstroke triple, laying down solid swims - we are very proud!

This nationals was also special because we two swimmers on their national debut! Both Ela and Ayan qualified for the 200 breastroke, an amazing achievement for them both and we now look forward to next season.

This meet also gave us a double national champion and quadruple national medalist with Ava racing the 200, 400, 800 and 1500 freestyle. Ava became national champion in the 800 and silver medalist in the 1500. After some very tight finals, Ava managed to come away with gold in the 200 free and silver in the 400 free. We are insanely proud!!!

We also wanted to give a shoutout to Nicholas, Vinnie and Triston who came to cheer on Ayan! We love to see the team spirit, this is what it’s all about!

Finally, we had two of our alumni swimmers racing at both British and English champs. Dominic had a busy schedule absolutely smashing his PBs and become national champion in the 200 IM and 200 fly.
Evie had some strong swims at British, beating her PB in the 800 freestyle, with two top 8 finishes in the 800 and 1500. She also qualified for two finals at English in the 200 and 400 free.

Welsh nationals update next… 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We have had a very busy few weeks with our swimmers both at British and English nationals! 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

At British, we had some stand out swims. Finlay stared off our week with an excellent 11th in Britain finish in the 1500m freestyle.

Theo had a busy week, laying down solid swims in the 400 IM, 200 IM and 200 breastroke. Rocco also joined him in the 200 breastroke, just finishing 11th in Britain.
We had Lewis in the breastroke triple. Lewis achieved a seasons best in the 100 and smashed his PBs in both the 50 and the 200. A great way to end his time at NBSC before going to university in the states!
Heath too raced the three breastroke events at the Next Gen champs, achieving two PBs and a seasons best - an amazing way to end the season!

Lois qualified for the 200 fly final, finishing 4th in Britain. Amelie also raced the breastroke triple, qualifying for the 200 breastroke final - an awesome way to end the season.
Last of our girls to swim at the Next Gen champs was Ava in the 200 backstroke. Ava qualified for her first ever national final, coming in 5th in a massive PB, a tremendous achievement!

Today we had two of our swimmers in the open water nationals today at Rother Valley… Finlay, who swam last week at British nationals and has English to come, came 16th in a time of 1.44.38 in the 7.5km! Denis came 24th in the 14 years age group in a time of 1.18.38 in the 5km!

We are so proud of both boys and their efforts!!! 💪 🐬

Now on to English and Welsh nationals 🔜🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Keep your eye out at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for former NBSC swimmer, Evan Jones! He started his racing, making a final in the 200 IM! We are so pleased for him and wish him luck for the rest of the competition!!!

In honour of the commonwealth games beginning today in Glasgow… we would like to give a shout out to one of our own, current performance coach, Sarah Collings!
Sarah went to the 1998 Kuala Lumpur games for the 800 freestyle, coming home with a bronze medal!!! 🥉

Today was the Swim England Midland Regional Open Water Development Programme! It was a great experience for our swimmers and we are so proud of those selected!

Earlier this week, Coach Tom Vince and our Captain Maddie Richards attended the Summer Fair at Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School in Coventry promoting and raising money for the club!!!
