π Summer Solo Skill Spotlight β Week 2 β¨ Solo Drill: Agility & Fast Feet!
πͺπ»If you are feeling physically fit and well, hereβs our second solo drill for us to try over the summer break before the new term begins.
π Why this drill? Agility and fast feet make you quicker on court; helping with quick direction changes, and controlled stops.
β½πΊAll you need is a ball that bounces, a safe driveway or patio, and a marker like a cone or other stable object.
π How to do it (also see pictures below):
β’ Place your cone or marker 1β2 metres to the right side of you. β’ Drop the ball from chest height. β’ Stay on your toes, side step or side skip to touch the cone, then return to catch the ball. β’ Try to get back before the ball bounces too many times.
π‘Variations: β’ Move the cone further away. β’ Repeat the drill with the cone on your left side.

π Summer Solo Skills Spotlight β Week 1: Proprioception and core stability.
π Why it matters: Balance and coordination improvements during netball landing and take-off.
π How to do it:
Step 1: Stand on one leg and circle the ball around your waist.
Step 2: Stay on one leg and move the ball around the front of your raised, bent knee.
Step 3: Switch legs and repeat the sequence.
Tip: If balancing is difficult, work for short intervals and build up gradually.

π Summer Solo Drills Are Nearly Here! βοΈ
The school summer holidays are here, but that doesn't mean our netball has to take a break! Over the summer weβll be sharing some fun, easy solo drills we can do at home to stay active, build confidence, and be ready to hit the ground running in September.
To join in, you'll just need a size 5 netball. If you're thinking of getting one, here are a few great options:

β¨ Gilbert Phoenix Match Ball β closer to the feel of our club balls.
β¨ Mitre Oasis β tough and ideal for garden or driveway practice.
Any of these are perfect for practising our catching, passing, footwork and ball handling.
π Keep an eye on the page β our first solo drill will be landing soon! We'd love to see you joining in, so share your practice videos and photos with us and inspire everyone else along the way! ππ
