Our history matters. Our future matters too.

Nobody runs Penrith Swimming Club for profit.

Our club is run entirely by volunteers.

Coaches, teachers, committee members, officials and helpers give thousands of hours because they believe local people should have the opportunity to participate in swimming.

Many have been competitive swimmers themselves. Many have spent years developing their qualifications so they can pass their knowledge to the next generation.

They do it for one reason.

Their community.

Our campaign against GLL’s proposals and the handling of the situation by Westmorland and Furness Council is on the front page of this week’s Cumberland & Westmorland Herald.

The Council has now publicly stated that “a review is underway” into our Learn to Swim provision.

Yet despite repeated requests, PSC has still not been provided with the scope, terms, criteria, evidence or process for that review.

We have asked a simple question: if a review is already underway, where are the details?

We sincerely hope this review has not been introduced retrospectively to explain away how this situation began. We were originally told by GLL that our provision was ending. Now we are being told no decision has been made and a review is underway.

Our members and the people of Penrith deserve clarity.

Until we get it, our campaign continues.
