The Highland Perthshire Sports Captains programme is under way 🏅

Active Schools Perth & Kinross spent two training days at Breadalbane Academy and Pitlochry High School for this year's Sports Captains, senior pupils who will lead and promote physical activity in their schools. They were engaged and enthusiastic throughout, and a real credit to their schools.

This year's 21 Captains come from Breadalbane Academy (8), Pitlochry High School (6), the Royal School of Dunkeld (2), and Grandtully, Kenmore, Blair Atholl, Logierait and Kinloch Rannoch (1 each).

With a whistle and a new Sports Captain ¼-zip each, kindly funded by the The Enchanted Forest Community Trust, they're now back in school, working with along with Active Schools, school staff and volunteers to create more opportunities to get active.

McDonald's Fun Football!

Our football team has been recently hosting McDonald's Fun Football sessions with fantastic turnout of young players in both St Madoes and Kinross 🙌 with more booked for two festivals at the end of the month.

⚽ In St Madoes, 24 players are joining us every Wednesday afternoon, and 29 are booked in for our festival with Pitfour Football Club on Wednesday 30 September.

⚽ In Kinross, 30 kids are taking part across two Monday evening classes, with 24 signed up for the mixed festival on Monday 28 September.

A big thank you to all the players and parents for getting involved, and to the Scottish FA and McDonald's for funding the programme. We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the festivals!

Huge congratulations to Charlie Mailer, a member of our Young People's Sports Panel, who has had a standout few weeks representing Scotland in wheelchair basketball. 🏀🙌

In August, Charlie's U18 Scotland team won every game at the Home Nations, helping Scotland finish as overall Home Nations Champions.

Charlie then went on to the UK School Games and came home with a silver medal, after a final against England that was agonisingly decided 15–14 by the last throw of the game.

Well done once again Charlie 👏

Live Active Leisure is looking for an enthusiastic professional to join our team as Cricket Development Officer. Funded by the Gannochy Trust, this role works with local, regional and national stakeholders to achieve the strategic aims for cricket in Perth & Kinross.

You'll be passionate about the development of cricket, with a particular interest or expertise in the sport. If you're a self-motivated individual who's willing to take the initiative and can demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

Ideally you'll have a Level 2 Cricket coaching qualification, along with a good general education strengthened by an HNC/D in a sport-related subject.

A current driving licence is essential, PVG Membership is required.

Public Sessions ⛸️ – Our casual sessions, come along and enjoy the freedom of skating on the ice.

Learn to Skate – Sessions led by our qualified instructors to provide you the basics of skating on ice. ⭐

Snow Babes ❄️ – Fun skating session for kids aged 2-5, these are led by our qualified instructors to help your child build confidence on ice whilst ensuring a fun filled experience!

ASN 💙 – A new addition to our ice-skating timetable, our additional support needs sessions provide a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where children and young people of all abilities as well as family members and friends can enjoy being active on the ice.

A free festival for women and girls with a disability is coming to Perth this October.

The Perth & Kinross Disability Sport Women and Girls in Sport Festival is a full day of sport, run by some of the best female coaches in the region.

📅 Sunday 11 October, 11am–4pm
📍 Academy of Sport & Wellbeing, UHI Perth

Athletics, karate, wheelchair sports, boccia, dance, fencing and more. Try as many as you like, meet local clubs, and hear from local athletes in a live Q&A.

Women and girls are still under-represented in sport across Perth and Kinross. This festival is about changing that, regardless if you're trying sport for the first time or getting back into it.

We're proud to support it through our Sport for Change grant scheme with The Gannochy Trust.

🏊 Part Time Activity Instructors – Swimming Teacher
📍 Perth Leisure Pool
⏰ 4.5 hours per week (Tuesday 3.30pm - 8.15pm)

We're looking for friendly, outgoing individuals to join our existing team of Activity Instructors at Perth Leisure Pool, delivering swimming lessons across a variety of levels.

If you're passionate about teaching and love helping swimmers of all ages develop their skills and confidence in the water, we'd love to hear from you!

A Scottish Swimming Teachers Qualification (or equivalent) is essential, along with experience of teaching at a variety of levels. A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is also required (or to be obtained after employment). PVG Membership is required before starting.

It is Learn to Swim month 🏊 and what better way to start it than by celebrating the summer we've just had at our swim venues.

Over the summer holidays we delivered over Twenty-Two Thousand free swimming sessions to under 16’s across the region, this is an achievement we are incredibly proud of and one that wouldn't have been possible without sport Scotland’s Summer of Sport funding.

Building confidence in the water is exactly what this month is about, and at Live Active we offer plenty of ways to do that. We have lessons for early years, preschool, adults, and more, designed to suit a range of needs.
