Yesterday saw our new u7’s play their 1st game, with a pre game FaceTime team talk with Ricky Jade Jones. Then after the game they travelled across to Wisbech Town FC to be mascots for their game. And took some penalties at half time. A great day for all 🧡 ⚽️

THE TIME HAS COME, IT ALL STARTS AGAIN… 🧡🖤⚽

The early alarms.

Brand new match kit all laid out ready

The search for the missing football boot.

The messages asking what time kick-off is.

The coaches checking the weather for the hundredth time.

The parents loading the car, grabbing a coffee and heading off to another football pitch.

And then, eventually…

That moment when the kids pull on their Nene Valley shirt and step onto the pitch.

That’s what it’s all about. ❤️

Seven years ago, Nene Valley FC was just an idea.

Today, as we start the 2026/27 season, we have:

18 TEAMS
240 PLAYERS
46 COACHES

And honestly, when you look at those numbers, it’s hard to believe how far we’ve come.

But behind every one of those numbers is a child.

A child who just wants to play football.

To score a goal.

Make a save.

Celebrate with their mates.

Learn something new.

Maybe win a trophy.

Maybe suffer a defeat.

And hopefully, most importantly, have a bloody good time doing it.

For some of our players this weekend, it will be their very first competitive game.

For others, they’ll be starting another chapter of their football journey.

There will be brilliant goals, terrible misses, last-minute winners, questionable refereeing decisions 😂, muddy knees, tears, laughter and everything in between.

That’s grassroots football.

And that’s why we love it.

Because years from now, the scorelines probably won’t be what they remember at all.

They’ll remember the mates they made.

The coaches who gave up their weekends for them.

The parents who stood on the sidelines in the rain.

The journeys home after a big win.

The laughter in the changing rooms.

The feeling of pulling that shirt on.

They’ll remember being part of Nene Valley FC.

And that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

To our 46 coaches — thank you for giving up your time and energy to help our players.

To our parents and families — thank you for everything you do behind the scenes.

To everyone who volunteers, organises, sorts fixtures, deals with paperwork, pays the bills and does the jobs that nobody sees

To our club secretary who spends countless hours making everything just right and keeps the cogs turning, his commitment is unquestionable.

Thank you.

A football club isn’t built by one person.

It’s built by people.

And Nene Valley has some bloody good people.

So to every player wearing orange and black this weekend…

Play with pride.

Play with a smile.

Respect your teammates, your coaches, the opposition and the officials.

Give everything you’ve got.

And whatever happens…

ENJOY IT.

Because these Saturday and Sunday mornings won’t last forever.

One day, they’ll be memories.

So let’s make plenty of them.

Our donation box is just inside the Nene Valley Community Centre, Simply drop your boots in, and we’ll make sure they find a new home (and a new pair of feet ready to score goals.)

Not one, not two, but THREE of our very own Nene Valley girls have made the JPL Allstars squad for the 26/27 season! ⭐️

A HUGE congratulations to Darcy, Alice & Sophia! 👏🏻

After a successful trial process, the girls are officially JPL All Stars, recognised amongst some of the most talented players within the JPL Warriors league. 🤝🏻

What an incredible achievement and an amazing opportunity to compete at this level! 🙌🏻 We have absolutely no doubt these three will smash everything that comes their way this season, and who knows where this opportunity could lead! 🚀

We couldn’t be prouder. This is fully deserved and testament to the girls’ hard work, dedication and talent. 🧡🖤
