Lostock St Gerards Ladies FC

Today the women had the weekend off so I went along to watch the u18s vs St Annes Kestrels.

People had just got a cup of Bovril and a bacon butty when the game sprang in to life. Some nice play led to a cross from the right which was met by Tash arriving from the left to make it 1-0 the badgers!

And within minutes of the restart there was another goal. September’s player of the month Eva P slotting coolly to make it 2-0!

St Annes didn’t go down quietly though and maybe played the more eye catching football. The blue wall stood firm and didn’t let them past, and keeper EC was on hand to clear up any attempted through balls.

Gerards made a few subs and, with her first touch of the game m, Isla M made it 3-0! Her dad celebrating without knowing it was his daughter who scored!! Well done Neil 😂😂

St Anne’s continued to try and work the ball forward, but this left space for Gerards to counter. A ball out to the left and found Tash in space. Her first touch looked to have pushed her a bit wide, but then she whipped the ball in to the far top bin. 4-0!

Again St Anne tried to play football and caused a few nerves in the badgers back line, but again they stood strong.
The midfield players were getting stuck in with tackles and headers from Niyah, Chloe, Roxy, and Freya who headed every ball going.

An attacking corner played in by Keira was met by left back Tilly to make it 5-0!

St Anne’s continued to press forward and a hopefully ball forward caused problems for the Gerards defence. Gerards were unable to clear and St Anne’s managed to find the back of the net.

HT: 5-1

St Annes started the second half with determination, tackling anything that moved. But the blue army got the goal that killed the game. Some neat play from Gerards led to Lucia receiving the ball in space. A strike across goal forced the St Annes keeper in to a good save, only for Tash to follow in and tap in for her hat trick and Gerards 6th. 6-1!

Gerards continued to create chances, with the St Annes keeper keeping Tash, Amy, Chloe, Roxy, and Eva at bay with some good saves.

The keeper was unable to do anything about Gerards 7th. A driving run from Amy past a number of St Annes players and a composed finish made it 7-1.

Credit to St Annes, who did not give up. They continued to try and play football, moving the ball well but the Gerards back line held firm.
One ball split the Gerards defence but keeper EC was alert, and darted off her line to make a great tackle.

Then Eva P came back to the party with a great goal cutting in from the left finding the top bin - well done EP. 8-1!

Roxy curled a shot in from the left, which may have taken a bit of a deflection, but the ball was already on its way in to the net. 9-1!

The dubious goal panel have come back and said it’s Roxy’s goal, completing a very good win for the badgers!

LSG v Penwortham 4/10

Match report
Great all round performance today from the team, probably our best performance yet, the back line looked solid which is a credit the players as we worked on it at training and it paid off instantly. I also believe we have found a better balance in midfield giving us better support to both defence and attack. The work rate from everyone is brilliant, this is showing in the second half of games where we seem to be out running the opposition. Onwards and upwards. Goals from Eva W x2 Eva P x2 and Isla leading us to a convincing win. Big shout out to our POTM Ella who played more time out of position than in it. Well done ladies.

U18 LSG away to Euxton Villa 27/9

Tough game today, tried a little switch in formation to start the match with 3 at the back. This did not work out very well as we were 3-1 down within 20 minutes, at this point, we decided to go back to 4 at the back. This helped was regain some balance to the team and by halftime it was 3 all. Second half I feel we had better control over the game allowing us to push on and become an eventual winners. Winning 5-4. The ladies played their socks off today with many players having to play out of position. I am very proud of everyone for today’s effort. Our player of the match was Niyah who put in a fantastic display of defensive capabilities against a very capable forward. Goals from Eva P x2 Eva W, Isla H and Tasha.

LSG v Whinney Hill
The black n white army came into yesterday game going up against high scoring Whinney hill who had scored 32 goal in 3 games .

The game started with Whinney hill playing some very nice football meaning LSG became a little ragged . Whinney hill must of had about 4 chances in 2 minutes only for Zoe to keep them at bay with some great saves .
The Gerard’s defence and midfield where tackling anything that moved and that was also the Whinney players legs with Whinney hill getting a few free kicks .
The set pieces from Whinney hill was causeing lots of problems yet the game remained goalless .
A couple of counter attack from LSG lead to a few half chances but nothing the Whinney hill keeper could handle .
And as the half was coming to a close Whinney hill broke the deadlock .
1-0 Whinney hill
Second half and a good 5 minutes of play from Gerads was undone by Whinney hill who made it 2-0 early after the restart .
LSG started to get a foothold into the game and kept battling but Whinney hill where showing why they had scored so many goals with another swift attack they made it 3-0
About 15 mins before the end Lostock grabbed a goal from a corner with Ellie rising at the back post to head the ball home.
A 3-1 defeat today but a battling performance from the team which included 4 of our u18 players .

The black and white army took on Kendal town FC at the home of football .
In the first half both teams had pleanty of the ball with LSG missing a number of chances to break the deadlock.
But it was Kendal who did that withcsome nice play down the right for the midfielder to slot home making it 1-0 Kendal .
LSG had more chances and missed them but it felt it would soon change.
Kendals keeper making a few brave blocks and good saves . The Kendal crossbar was rattled but then Kendal made it 2!!

Just before the half time some great battling by Kirsty got the ball to lidz who played a though ball to Demi who made it 2-1
Then when LSG looked to get back into the game a back pass went under the LSG keepers foot making it 3-1 Kendal.
Second half it was one way traffic for much of the half but great deafening from Kendal and more good saves from the Kendal keeper kept LSG at bay .
Then with 12 mins left the ball fell on the edge of the area for player of the game Charley to put into the back of the net .
More LSG pressure didn’t pay off as Kendal held on for the 3 points .

Match report for LSG u18 v Astley and Buckshaw

Fast start for us again tonight with a goal in the first minute, the first half was a very open affair with both teams seemingly not thinking of defence as at HT the game was poised at 3-3. We made some small tactical adjustments to our play that helped balance the team allowing us to go ahead and build a lead.
Some strong individual performances tonight making it hard on us to pick a player of the match but, one star stood out. Ruby worked hard at the back, some big challenges to stop break aways and even finding a nice through ball pass to get herself an assist.

Final score 7-5 win with goals from
Eva P 3, Eva W 2 Ella 1 and Amy 1
