Super 6s v Yateley – Saturday 5th September
And it came to pass that the people in sky and navy were able to come out of their long hibernation and the day finally arrived for friendly combat at home for most of the RHC Ladies sides. The sun decided to mark this momentous occasion and, lo, the Super 6’s were super excited to take on Yateley on SLS. Covid-19 aware and all hand gelled up, the team dutifully obeyed all the rules; a socially distanced warm up, the ghost buster job done, no dug outs for us and the spacing of bags 2m apart along the fence (which almost took us down to Twyford. Then we got down to the serious business of making up for lost hockey time. Despite valiant efforts from Legs Liz and Typhoon Tam the team found themselves a curious 2-0 down at half time. We had surprised ourselves after such a long break and felt we had played OK. Fuelled by meticulously hygienic and socially distanced delivery of jelly babies, with wise words from Manager Liv and with the prospect of playing downhill ahead, the game took a completely different turn in the second half. Bingo – pretty soon we had levelled the score, including a stonker of a short corner strike from Sandy. Annoyingly Yateley found the back of the net once more, but we were not to be deterred. With some super passing we had levelled yet again. Who knew? With even fiercer determination, a wonderful combination of moves secured us the win with another classy field goal in the dying minutes of the game. Two of our team not realising we had won 4-3 did not dampen our excitement for a cracking first win of the season. Long may this last. Really well played everyone, including our lovely opposition. Thank you to those who stood down this week and to those who eagerly came to support. No shouting, cheers, handshakes or hugs, no stick tapping, no teas, no player of the match voting or any social niceties these days, but…. we’re back and it feels good!
Great afternoon back with all you lovely people. See you all soon 😊
Don’t forget Tuesday team will be at the club again tmrw morning from about 9.30, bring your gardening tools and come and join in. Weather looks great too 🌿🍃☀️🏑
Have been at the club again today, it’s in desperate need of some gardening and grounds TLC. Going to make some
plans on what to attack first with Tim Hamilton and Judith Barton

Anyone got some free time this week and fancy some outdoor work. We all know a tidy bush is a lot better 😜 and it’s more fun with friends!

We can support the Walker Talkie campaign and tackle some loneliness too. “ ❤️ RHC “

To sell:
4 tickets (2 adult / 2 U18) plus all day car parking for the final FIH Pro League matches this Sunday 23rd June. Tickets are in the sold out East Stand (side view).
This is a double header with both the Men’s and Ladies GB teams in action vs NZ.
These matches are being played at Twickenham Stoop for the first time where a pitch is being laid and seems to be an EH focus for a fun day.
It’s a great family day out with opportunities for selfies with your hockey heroes and to go on the pitch at the end and play.
Sadly a family commitment now means we can’t go.
Tickets cost £118 but I'm open to sensible offers!
Hello all, Rogues are playing a hockey game tonight in Henley at 7pm - unfortunately we do not have a goalie, anyone able to help us please?
After speaking to lots of you last night (which im sure you all remember 😜) this is a shameless plug for sponsorship 👍
I am running the London Marathon 2 weeks today for a childrens hospital charity based at the John Radcliffe. It is for a great cause so if you can please sponsor me on the link below - thank you!!
A set of keys has been found on Sonning Lane Sand. If you have lost them, I have them on the sand pitch. Will come to the clubhouse after the L3’s match.
