There’s some exciting hockey this weekend - if we can survive the wind and rain. The women’s 1s and 3s have top of the table clashes and the men’s 1s and women’s 2s, both also sitting in top spot play the third placed teams in their leagues.
Good luck to everyone picking up a stick or a whistle this weekend. Watch out for that wind and stay safe.

Sam and Mia added another goal to their tally but this week’s goal scoring super star was Izzy, with 4 goals in the women’s 3s 5-2 win. Izzy now sits in second spot (numbers now include a previous goal allocated to Isabella not Izzy so my lookup wasn’t working).
This week also saw braces for Charlie Ellison, Hannah Kilpatrick and Hamish Hudson.
With their 0-0 draw the women’s 8 extend their clean sheet lead with 6 matches. The women’s 4s and men’s 3s add to their clean sheet tally and sit in joint 2nd place with 4 clean sheets apiece.
Masters Cup Glory: Reading’s Triumph in Rhyme
On a crisp, bright day in the Masters Cup,
Reading Ladies Over 35s lined up.
Facing Welwyn Garden, fierce and keen,
For a battle of skill, of heart, and dream.
Georgia, our captain, inspired the fight,
Her leadership blazing, a guiding light.
With Denise in goal, steady and brave,
Her daring saves kept the game in our wave.
From the start, the clash was fast and bold,
Alys struck first, her skills pure gold.
A hat trick hero, unstoppable fire,
Her strikes lifting Reading higher and higher.
Reenie, relentless, found the net twice,
One from a flick, precise and nice.
The game grew tough, the stakes ran high,
With bodies colliding beneath the sky.
Kim, Alys, and Georgia, all hit the ground,
But rose like warriors, strength unbound.
Welwyn fought hard, scoring their three,
But Reading’s resilience was the key.
Boccas, returning, answered the call,
From retirement’s shadow, she gave her all.
The team stood strong, a united crew,
Masters Cup dreams coming into view.
With a 5-3 win, we cheered with pride,
Now looking forward to the next round’s stride.
Reading Ladies, with grit and might,
Shining bright under hockey’s light.
Congratulations to the Ladies 1s beating East Grinstead 3-2 to maintain their top spot in the league. Only 1 more game left in phase 1. 2pm at home next Saturday against Hampstead and Westminster who are in 2nd. Will be a great game so pop down.
