What makes our sports camps unique?

It’s without doubt the group of helpers we have. Having worked at Hardwick & other local schools for what seems an eternity, I have had the privilege of teaching these guys when they were at primary school - they came to my football clubs and most of them I’ve known since they were 5! 🤯

From secondary school, the adult coaches have all helped with clubs and sports camps. Adam & Tom for over ten years, Sebie has been with me since year 7 and Jack & Louisa soon after! Matthew, Ryan and James have assisted me at clubs for many years and Maria has gone from volunteer to a brilliant new addition to the team! We have also had wonderful volunteers too who have worked tirelessly and hopefully will be the coaches of the future!

It’s been an honour to work with these guys, I’m so incredibly proud of how they have all grown, the energy, positivity and enthusiasm they bring to each day of the camps. They wouldn’t be the same without you - we make a pretty special team. 🙌

Friday football! ⚽️

Our 13th & final sports camp day was a football day filled with sunshine, smiley faces & lots of games! ☀️

We started the morning with everyone in the gym playing a football game called castles, we had penalty shootouts, futsal & football tournaments before lunch before an afternoon where they could choose between for the slip and slide 💦 and a helpers v kids football match (which the helpers won!) 🏆

We had footgolf, dodgeball, just dance, futsal, throwing sponges at the helpers (part 2) and the water maze as the main activities today! ⛳️ 🕺🏻 ⚽️ 💦

Tomorrow is our last day, but we intend to go out with a bang! 💥

Another day, another set of sports camp photos! 📸

Despite the heavy rain shower in the morning, today went really smoothly! Basketball, laser tag and archery were the main activities in the morning with a volleyball tournament at break time for the older kids! 🏐 🏀 🔫 🏹

In the afternoon we had the wet sponges out to throw at the helpers & lots of kids played four squid games: red light green light, tug of war, mingle & hide and seek with the winners staying dry and the losers getting soaked! 💦
The afternoon was great fun - it was great to see so many happy faces and lots of laughter!

This morning there was a big cheer when the kids were told they would have 2 wet sponges each to throw at a helper of their choice in the afternoon! 🧽 🧽

Whilst Sebie and Max had long queues of children to soak them, Louisa got away lightly with only 1 lining up to get her! The results were hilarious and they were all laughing and cheering as sponges hit us in the face 😂

I’m here to say what an AMAZING team we have! We could not run the camps without this group of leaders! Between us all we have led a range of activities across 3 weeks, and on some days the attendance has been over 80!

All the leaders help create an amazing environment for all the kids to get involved, try new sports and most importantly have fun!

Thank you Tom, Jack, Adam, Sebie, James, Matthew, Maria and Ryan as well as volunteers Max, Patrick, Ollie, Emily and Vaanya for all your amazing hard work! And of course Alex for all your dedication running the camps and behind the scenes, which we don’t see! And thank you Caretaker James for allowing us to run the camps!
