MATCH RESULT ⬇️

We fall to our first defeat of the season as we didn’t turn up and the opposition were clearly up for it. On a positive, Mere remain top of the league with a game in hand. We dust ourselves off ready for next weekend’s fixture against Adas Ercall. ⚽️

BEW Electrical Services MOTM - Josh Marshall (sponsored by P&P Garden and Landscape and M&I Plastering). Marsh threw himself in front of everything and did all he could for the back line. Another MOTM under his belt, he’s a stand out at the moment.

Goal Scorer:
⚽️ Harry Carter - sponsored by Ewe Move, Shrewsbury

GOAL OF SEPTEMBER ⬇️

It was a pretty tight contest, but with a majority of the votes, Dave Murch wins the award for his finish against Ercall Rangers Reserves.

We hope this goal and award finally gives Dave the closure he needs to make his retirement plans permanent in the coming years. Rumour has it, he’s going for top goal scorer this season. 👀

Well done, Dave! ⚽️

PLAYER OF THE MONTH ⬇️
Sponsored by YOLO Driving School.

We’re pleased to share our player of the month for September, voted for by the management team, as Josh Marshall. Josh joined Mereside a few games into last season, and he’s certainly cemented his position in the starting eleven each week since then. He’s had an exceptional start to this season, a consistent presence leading the back line and never afraid to put in a well timed challenge. He’s also quite tall, so his head often makes contact with the ball more than his feet. ⚽️

A few words from our player of the month:
“It’s a pleasure to have been chosen as player of the month for September. We’ve had another great month and start to the season with 10 wins in our first 10 games. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else the season brings, and hopefully continuing to make a continued impact on our success. ” - Josh Marshall

Josh is sponsored by P&P Garden and Landscape Services and M&I Plastering.
