It's been an emotional day today as it was the last day of us delivering the Solihull Community Advice Hubs and Information & Advice Services.

We want to say a huge thank you to our amazing team who made the service what it was.

For more than seven years, our advisers and volunteers provided life-changing support to Solihull residents, helping thousands of people navigate benefits, housing issues, debt concerns, cost of living pressures and much more.

Their knowledge, compassion and dedication helped make the service what it became, supporting over 27,000 residents and helping solve more than 117,500 issues.

To every volunteer and member of staff who has played a part, thank you. Your contribution has made a lasting difference to our community.

As we prepare to close the Solihull Community Advice Hubs, we're reflecting on the incredible difference our team has made in the local community.

Age UK Solihull has proudly delivered the Hubs to local residents since 2019 and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has used, supported and championed the service over the years. We are proud of the huge difference the service has made to local people's lives during the time we delivered it:

- Since 2019, Age UK Solihull and the Community Advice Hubs have helped over 27,000 local residents through its Information & Advice services.
- During that time, we helped with 117,502 issues and generated 418,970 contacts
- Last year alone, we supported 1,500 grant and benefit applications, generating around £4.4m annualised income for Solihull residents.

These figures represent real people receiving support through difficult times, gaining financial security, finding answers and accessing the help they needed.

We are so grateful to all incredible staff and volunteers for helping to make such a huge difference.

Thank you also to everyone who has trusted us with their questions, concerns and challenges over the years.

The Community Advice Hubs at The Core on Homer Road, and at Chelmsley Wood Library, will close after 30 September. However, information and advice will still be available for Solihull residents via the Here2Help service. To access support or find out more, please visit www.casb.org.uk or call 0121 788 6527.

*Important Information about Solihull Community Advice Hubs*

From 1 October 2026, the Community Advice Hubs at The Core on Homer Road, and Chelmsley Wood Library, will be permanently closed, as the Solihull Information & Advice service, known now as Here2Help, has recently been awarded to another provider and will no longer be delivered by Age UK Solihull.

We know many local residents rely on this support, so we want to reassure you that information and advice services will continue to be available through the new Here2Help service.

From 1 October, residents seeking information and advice should contact Here2Help, who will provide support by telephone, email and through multiple face-to-face locations across the borough. To access support or find out more about venues in your area, please visit
www.casb.org.uk or call 0121 788 6527.

Thank you to everyone who has used, supported and championed the Information & Advice services during the time we delivered them. We would also like to thank our incredibly knowledgeable Advisers and volunteers for making such a huge difference over the years.

While we are disappointed not to continue delivering the service, we are proud of what has been achieved and remain committed to supporting older people across Solihull through our Community Connections, Digital Champions and Social Prescribing services.

Get involved this Older People's Day!

On 1 October, we're inviting individuals, businesses, schools and community groups across Solihull to support Age UK Solihull's Older People's Day campaign.

There are lots of ways to get involved:

- Wear a hat and make a donation
- Slip into Slippers for the day and donate
- Hold a bake sale, quiz, raffle or fundraising event
- Donate directly to support local older people

Every pound raised will help us continue supporting older people in Solihull through services that reduce loneliness, promote independence and provide vital advice and support.

Adventurous fundraisers encouraged to apply for share of £250k fund while supporting Age UK Solihull.

Local charity is encouraging ambitious fundraisers to take advantage of a unique opportunity to secure funding for extraordinary endurance challenges through the Givestar Adventure For Good Grant.

A spokesperson said: “The grant programme offers access to a £250,000 funding pot, helping successful applicants cover essential costs such as travel, equipment, permits and entry fees. The initiative aims to remove financial barriers for fundraisers undertaking inspiring challenges while raising money for charities they care about.

“The fund is open to individuals planning bold, endurance-focused adventures, including ultra-marathons, mountain summits, ocean rows and other remarkable feats that demonstrate determination, resilience and commitment.

“Previous examples of successful challenges have included skiing to the South Pole, rowing across the Pacific Ocean, running from Beijing to London, swimming from the source of the River Thames to Westminster and completing ultra-marathons using unique fundraising approaches.
Age UK Solihull hopes the opportunity will inspire local people to pursue their dream challenge while making a meaningful difference to older people across the borough.”

Rebecca Jacob, Age UK Solihull, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has ever dreamed of taking on an incredible adventure while raising money for a local charity. The grant can help remove some of the financial obstacles that often come with large-scale fundraising challenges, allowing participants to focus on achieving something extraordinary. We would love to hear from anyone considering a challenge in support of Age UK Solihull and are happy to provide support throughout their fundraising journey."

A spokesperson added: “Applicants will need to submit a brief video explaining their proposed challenge and complete a short application form.

“The deadline for applications is midnight on 31 August 2026, and successful applicants will be notified by 14 September 2026.
