Kills me the fact you can not fish the docks, would of been a mental session on the lures.

Non stop action this morning but only fish fingers lurking about, too small for the savage seeker which produced plenty knocks. Such a shame im only restricted to a seeker due to my rod being broken.

Heard about a big fish jumping out the water in this area and it happened to me today, im 70% sure its a salmon.

Off to mayflower later since the wind has died down to see if i can sniff out at least one fish, feel free to join!

After snapping my rod yesterday, I felt proper lost for a while — until I remembered I still had my travel rod lying about. It's around 12ft and just about handles working a seeker through the water.

After months of watching Mayflower get smashed up by working birds feeding on bait the bass were pushing up, I figured it was finally my time. Headed down an hour before high tide. Birds were going wild — but way out of my reach. Still, after about 45 mins, I scraped a little schoolie and thought, alright, let’s go.

Then it happened — I saw a tank. It absolutely tore through a bunch of fish so fast I barely clocked it, but I swear it was pushing double figures… then vanished.

With the wind battering me sideways, I remembered I had some I-Some worms in my bag. Slapped one onto the single hook of the seeker. At first, I was getting hit but robbed clean — the rubber wasn’t holding. Tweaked things a bit and boom — ended up landing 7 more schoolies!

That was until some guy started lure fishing right in my casting zone, throwing in every direction I was working. So, I called it and went home for some food.

But the session wasn’t over. Had a thought: this seeker + worm combo could be lethal in the river, especially with mullet everywhere. Headed down Broadwalk, tide ripping, water bubbling — I was buzzing like a kid to get set up.

1.5 hours later, I’d smashed my PB. Gutted I didn’t have a tape on me, but ChatGPT reckons it was around 65–75cm — either way, miles bigger than my old PB of 63cm. Took the beast about 15 minutes to recover before he kicked off strong into the depths.

Only a couple weeks back into lure fishing and already the results are mad. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds.

What a graph but the progress is real, one happy man with what has been achieved so far!

Up at 5am, hanging but once I’m awake im awake, out the door by 6am and headed straight for Broad Walk. Perfect timing too… halfway to my spot, I got greeted by two solid bass cruising the edge. Sadly I had the surface lure tied on with no control, just chaos. One bass gave chase, but he wasn’t falling for it.

Took a seat, gathered my thoughts. The pressure was on as I’ve learned the hard way that the bite window here lasts about an hour max.

Boom. Found my trusty Savage Seeker… and it delivered 3 fish fingers landed.. what a hangover cure!

Still hunting for that 50cm+ unit before I move on from this stretch.

Anyone else been out chucking lures lately? Water’s definitely warming up.

I’ve been quiet this month, but for a good reason not just for me, but for all of you. The fishing content is only going to get better with the boat back in the water. Just a few more sanding sessions and some minor touch-ups inside, and I’ll be back in action with some epic sessions ahead. Stay tuned it’s going to be worth the wait.

Smoothhound Mayhem! Solent Sea Fishing Adventure Charter trip cancelled so me and Dave thought were try our local waters (Solent) to see if any summer species pop up... and the night diddnt fail us! ...
