🌟⛵Congratulations to 15 year old Faith Turner who sailed the channel crossing in 2 Hours and 56 Minutes!
A little over a week ago, we posted about a young girl who was going to attempt to sail the channel crossing from Dover to France in a topper dinghy to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
We are very proud to announce that she did it in 2:56 and raised a total of £5510 !
🎤When asked how the day went, she had this to say: "On Friday I sailed across the English Channel in a Topper dinghy in the busy shipping lane between Dover and Cap-Gris to raise money for Cancer Research.
I faced many challenges along the way such as having to avoid ferries, war ships and cargo ships which was difficult in the giant waves. I have never sailed with such big waves and once I got the hang of surfing them, they were no longer as big and scary and more fun as I was going average 8-9 knots. In order to get the world record, I had to get out of my boat and touch the French land which was very difficult because the waves were crashing onto me and rock were either side of me so it was extremely difficult to get back in the boat and get sailing again but I barely managed to do that without drifting onto the rocks. I would like to thank all my sponsors; XB44, Saxon Air, Rooster, Performance Sailcraft Europe, GP Watercraft.
The Port of Dover were super lovely and made everything happen on the day, even when it looked like we couldn’t launch the safety boats they managed to arrange to lift them in with their huge boat cranes! I would also like to thank everyone who donated money towards this and to thank my coach, Tim Hulse for supporting me on the water and believing in me. Overall it took me 2 hours 56 minutes to cross the English Channel making me the fastest solo dinghy sailor to cross the channel ever.”

Sunday 23rd August Sailing Report
A warm sunny day with gentle breezes. What's not to like 😍
A variety of craft out today. Alan in his yacht, Pippa on her windsurfer, Gordon in his giant catamaran as well as a gaggle of dinghies. Alex had his first sail in his classic Wayfarer with lots of people admiring his original red sails made in 1963.
Thanks Ken and Barny for safety boating (Barny appears to have a target on his back 🤔)
Next sail Wednesday night. Race night.
