Ballet Basics Episode 7: Why Dancers Count Music 🔢
Counting keeps dancers in time with the music, helps with rhythm and coordination and makes learning new steps much easier!
Counting also helps them connect one step to the next without getting lost and gives them the confidence to dance independently 🙌
Can you see it? 👀
Every jump, every step, every tiny movement takes focus, balance and determination.
Even the youngest dancers are building strength, coordination and confidence one powerful moment at a time 🩰💥

Meet our Assistant Teacher Miss Bethany! 🩰
When some of our younger dancers practise picked-up gallops, they’re learning how to move with rhythm, stay balanced and coordinate their bodies as they travel across the floor.
These early steps might look small, but they build the foundations for so many other movements as dancers progress! ✨

In ballet class, so much growth happens in the quiet moments: practising, repeating, concentrating and trying again 💪
Little by little, those efforts turn into real progress 🎉

Did you know that the small things children do in ballet class, like waiting their turn or trying a step again, are building skills they use everywhere?
From focus and resilience to confidence and patience, these “little wins” grow far beyond the studio 🔥🎉
While the world scrolls… they’re learning to DANCE 🩰✨
No screens. No distractions. Just movement, focus and joy in real time.

Let's learn about a ✨ glissade✨
A glissade is a connecting step which consists of gliding or sliding along the floor. The basic glissade is travelled sideways.
From 5th position, the action commences with a demi-plié, extending the working foot to a dégagé in 2nd en fondu; the supporting leg pushes away from the floor and is released so that both legs are momentarily fully stretched; the transfer of weight continues, lowering through the leading foot into a fondu and the freed foot from its dégagé in 2nd is drawn firmly into 5th position en demi-plié.
