This weekend we had the pleasure of meeting Jim MacDonald from Mactra Marine. Jim is an expert in the field of marine water makers and especially the one that we have on our boat. The Schenker Zen 30 water maker is an incredible piece of kit and essential on a journey of this magnitude. It will enable us to make drinkable water from the sea as we cross the Atlantic. Jim has given us the information, knowledge and skills we might need if this system breaks down or incurs any problem at sea. Water is an essential lifeline, so to be able to maintain and fix our very own Watermaker is a great skill to have.

Special thanks to Helen Harvey and Soroptimist SIGBI for the opportunity to promote the upcoming row and generate some positive energy around the empowerment of doing this as a woman as part of a mixed team. How we understand each others issues, challenges and needs as a group has already been so important. I’m incredibly lucky that these guys have been supportive with every female specific problem I’ve thrown in their direction and hopefully they’re paving the ways for generations to come where there are no gender barriers and we can all thrive together 🙌😊🙌

We have had a great couple of weeks in September, meeting members of the public at Home farm Attingham and the Ironbridge Gorge world Heritage festival. We have shared our challenge with some very enthusiastic visitors and raised lots of money for your amazing charities. Thank you to everyone who donated, your support is very much appreciated.

And just like that our training on the boat is all done! We started our journey together with the boat on Bala a year ago so it seemed fitting we did our last session here too. In recognition the Royal Air Force organised a number of fly overs from some impressive pilots admiring our rowing🤣

We’ve learned so much, grown together through the challenges, celebrated the successes and now find ourselves on a 3 month countdown! Bring it on!🫣🤣

This weekend saw us have our Kit and Boat Inspection with World’s Toughest Row and Boat Survey with the amazing Paul Ridley. A great chance to chat things through, check we’re on course and as always learn a lot! Seems to be approaching at a rapid speed now so full steam ahead!

And just like that we’ve reached the 120 hour mark on the water together🙌 A great weekend of training again, starting with a wet, windy and wavy first night, followed by some lovely weather and great times on the oars. What a journey to be on together😊 Less than 6 months till we start so getting VERY real!
