🌞❤️ And just like that… we’re in June! ❤️🌞

Can you believe we’re already six months through the year?

It only feels like yesterday we were talking about New Year’s resolutions, dark mornings and wrapping up against the winter weather. Yet here we are, stepping into a brand new month, with lighter evenings, greener trees, and a little more spring in our step.

Before we do anything else, we’d like to say a huge congratulations to all of our members who took part in this year’s Great Midland Fun Run (or the Sutton Fun Run, as many of us still affectionately call it!).

Whether you walked, jogged, ran, volunteered, cheered from the sidelines or simply supported others taking part, you should be incredibly proud. Events like these remind us that movement comes in many forms and that being part of a community is something truly special. ❤️

As we say goodbye to some of those scorchio days of May and welcome a fresher, but equally beautiful June, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect:

💭 What have you achieved so far this year that you’re proud of?
💭 What positive habits have helped you feel better?
💭 What would you like the next six months to look like?
💭 What small step could you take today that your future self would thank you for?

Here’s a heart-health fact to think about:

❤️ Your heart beats around 100,000 times every day.
That’s over 18 million beats since the start of the year alone, and it’s been quietly working for you every second of every day.

Maybe June is the month to give something back.

Not through drastic changes.
Not through impossible goals.

But through simple things:
👫 Connecting with others
🙂 Sharing a laugh
🚶 Moving a little more
❤️ Looking after yourself

That’s what Streetly ACC has been doing for decades.

A friendly, welcoming group where people come together to keep active, support one another, and enjoy all the benefits that movement, friendship and community can bring.

A new month.
A fresh start.
A stronger heart.
And a warm welcome waiting for you

❤️🩺 Did you know this is one of the things that makes Streetly ACC so unique? 🩺❤️

On the first Thursday of every month, we’re joined by a local community nurse during our session, something we’ve proudly been doing for many, many years.

And honestly? We think that’s pretty special.

Because Streetly ACC has never just been about movement and exercise. It’s always been about looking after the whole person, supporting heart health, wellbeing, confidence, and community in a genuinely caring and practical way.

During these monthly visits, members can:
🩺 Have their blood pressure checked
❤️ Ask questions about heart health and wellbeing
💬 Chat through any concerns in a friendly, informal setting
📍 Receive advice or signposting if anything should be followed up with their GP or other services

It’s such a valuable way of helping people stay aware of their health within the community, and it’s one of the many reasons this group has been trusted and loved for so long.

How many local wellbeing or fitness groups can honestly say they offer that kind of ongoing support and connection?

At Streetly ACC, we know that prevention, awareness, and community matter. Sometimes, a simple blood pressure check or conversation can make all the difference.

Our next nurse visit will be:
📅 Thursday 4th June

So whether you come for the gentle movement, the friendships, the laughs, or the reassurance of knowing support is there when you need it, you’ll always be warmly welcomed.

🌿❤️ A toast to Sir David Attenborough on his 100th birthday. ❤️🌿

One hundred years old.
A century of curiosity, storytelling, wonder... and perhaps most importantly, connection.

Because when you think about Sir David Attenborough, you don’t just think about nature documentaries. You think about how he made people feel. He reminded us to slow down, to look around us, to appreciate the world, and to understand that everything is connected.

And maybe there’s a lesson in that for all of us when it comes to our own health and wellbeing.

🌿 Time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and lower blood pressure
☀️ Fresh air and daylight support mood, sleep, and heart health
🚶 Gentle movement... especially outdoors... supports circulation and overall wellbeing
🙂 Connection, curiosity, and purpose all play an important role in healthy ageing

Perhaps one of the reasons Sir David continues to inspire generations at 100 years old is because he never stopped engaging with the world around him. Never stopped learning. Never stopped moving forward with purpose.

And that’s something we believe in deeply at Streetly ACC.

Looking after your heart isn’t only about exercise. It’s about staying connected... to people, to community, to routine, and even to the world around us.

As we move towards summer, with greener trees, lighter evenings and more opportunities to get outside, maybe this is your reminder to:
🌿 Take the walk
☀️ Sit in the sunshine
❤️ Check in on a friend
👫 Stay connected
🙂 Keep moving... gently, steadily, consistently

Because healthy hearts are built in the small moments, repeated over time.

So here’s to Sir David Attenborough... a reminder that ageing can still be filled with curiosity, purpose, and wonder. 💚

Join us... Streetly ACC, Blackwood Methodist Church, Thursdays 7pm! See you there!!

🌼❤️ Hello May… a new month, a new energy. ❤️🌼

There’s something about the 1st May that just feels different, isn’t there?

The light’s around for longer.
The sun feels warmer.
And somehow… we feel a little lighter too.

And that’s not just in your head, there’s real science behind it.

☀️ Sunlight helps your body produce Vitamin D, which supports bone health, muscle function, and even your immune system
☀️ It also boosts serotonin… your “feel good” hormone, helping to lift mood and increase energy
☀️ More daylight helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle, meaning better rest and more consistent energy
☀️ And naturally, when the sun is out… we’re more likely to move, connect, and spend time outdoors, all of which support heart health ❤️

So if you’re feeling a little more energised, a little more motivated, a little more yourself… that’s why.

And maybe May is the perfect moment to pause and reflect:

💭 What have you done this year that you’re really proud of?
💭 What’s helped you feel good… physically or mentally?
💭 What would you still like to do, at your own pace?
💭 What does “feeling well” actually look like for you this summer?

Because it doesn’t have to be dramatic.
It doesn’t have to be a complete overhaul.

Sometimes it’s simply about:
❤️ Moving a little more
🙂 Feeling a little happier
👫 Being a little more connected

At Streetly ACC, that’s what we see every week. People showing up, not for perfection, but for progress. For community. For themselves.

So as we step into May, with brighter days ahead, maybe this is your time to lean into what feels good.

We’ll be here, as always, ready to welcome you.

☀️💚 We’re heading into May… and doesn’t it feel good? 💚☀️

Lighter evenings.
Brighter mornings.
A bit of sunshine (finally!) making a more regular appearance.

There’s something about this time of year that just lifts everything… your mood, your energy… and yes, even your heart. ❤️

And the lovely thing is, looking after your heart in this season doesn’t have to feel like hard work.

It can be as simple as:
🌿 Getting out for a bit of fresh air
🙂 Having a chat and a laugh
🚶‍♂️ Moving a little more than you did yesterday
👫 Spending time with people who make you feel good

Because here’s the truth, your heart doesn’t need extremes.
It just needs regular, gentle care.

At Streetly ACC, that’s exactly what we’re about.
A friendly, welcoming space to keep moving, keep connected, and keep your heart happy, all at your own pace.

No pressure.
No big mid year fitness-style promises.
Just a group of people doing something positive together, week by week.

So as we step into May, maybe this is your moment to:
💛 Get back into a routine
💛 Try something new (or come back to something familiar)
💛 Do something that makes you feel a little bit better

Because feeling good doesn’t have to be complicated.

🚀✨ What a week it’s been… ✨🚀

The kids are back to school, routines are returning… and hasn’t it just felt like one of those weeks where you stop and think… people really do incredible things.

From watching astronauts complete epic journeys around the moon and return safely home 🌏

To everyday moments closer to home, getting out, showing up, keeping going, supporting one another…

It’s all incredible, in its own way.

Because not all achievements have to be headline-worthy.

Sometimes, the real wins look like:

🙂 Getting out of the house

👫 Seeing friendly faces

🚶‍♂️ Keeping your body moving

❤️ Looking after your heart, one small step at a time

And at Streetly ACC, we see those “everyday incredible” moments every single week.

There’s also something in the air right now…

The evenings are lighter ☀️

The days feel longer

There’s a little more energy, a little more lift in everyone’s step

Spring is on its way… and with it, that gentle feeling of let’s get going again.

So whether your version of “incredible” is travelling to space…

Or simply walking through the door on a Thursday evening…

It all counts.

It all matters.

And it’s all worth celebrating.

🐣🌷 Happy Easter from Streetly ACC 🌷🐣

Easter is nearly here, a time for fresh starts, lighter days, and yes… a little bit of chocolate too 🍫😉

And while Easter is often about treats, traditions, and maybe the odd hot cross bun (or two!), it’s also a lovely reminder of something a bit deeper… renewal, balance, and looking after ourselves.

Because here’s the good news:

❤️ Your heart doesn’t mind a bit of chocolate

❤️ Your heart loves laughter, connection, and time with others

❤️ And your heart benefits most from small, steady habits, not perfection

So if this weekend includes:

🍫 A few extra treats

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Time with family and friends

😂 Plenty of laughter

🌼 A bit of fresh air

Then you’re already doing more for your wellbeing than you might think.

At Streetly ACC, we always say, it’s not about extremes. It’s about enjoying life and looking after your heart in a way that feels good and sustainable.

And here’s a little Easter thought…

If you were hunting for something truly valuable this weekend, it wouldn’t be a chocolate egg, it would be:

💛 Feeling connected

💛 Feeling well

💛 Feeling part of something

That’s the kind of “find” that lasts far beyond Sunday.

So enjoy every moment this Easter, the treats, the people, the slower pace, and we’ll be here ready to welcome you back, keeping hearts strong and spirits high.

From all of us at Streetly ACC, have a truly lovely Easter. 🐣💛

We can’t wait to see you soon!!

❤️ This has been a sad week here at Streetly ACC… ❤️

Earlier this month, we sadly lost one of our longest-standing members, a wonderful man who had been part of our group for nearly 30 years.

This week, many of us came together to attend his funeral. It was a truly beautiful service, filled with warmth, memories, laughter, and tears. A reflection of a life well lived, and of someone who meant so much to so many.

Seeing so many familiar faces there, friends, fellow members, and loved ones, was a powerful reminder of what Streetly ACC really is.

It’s not just a place to come and move.

It’s not just about keeping active.

It’s about people.

It’s about friendship.

It’s about connection that lasts for years, even decades.

For nearly 30 years, he walked through our doors, shared conversations, smiles, and moments that became part of all of our lives. And this week showed just how much that meant, not just to him, but to everyone around him.

Clubs like ours become something much deeper over time. They become part of our routine, our support system, our social circle, and in many ways, part of our story.

As we reflect this week, we’re reminded that looking after our hearts isn’t only about physical health. It’s also about the people we surround ourselves with, the connections we build, and the time we spend together.

To our dear friend… thank you for being such a big part of Streetly ACC for so many years. You will be deeply missed, and always remembered. ❤️

And to our members, thank you for continuing to make this club what it is:

A place of warmth, friendship, and belonging.

Please take a moment this week to check in on someone, share a memory, or simply spend time together. Those moments matter more than we often realise.

🍀❤️ Happy St Patrick’s Day from Streetly ACC ❤️🍀

In a field full of shamrocks, it’s the four-leaf clover that always gets noticed.

A little different.

A little unique.

A little bit special.

And maybe that’s a lovely thought to carry with us today, that each of us, in our own way, brings something valuable, something worth being seen, appreciated, and connected.

Because when it comes to heart health, it’s not just about the physical side. It’s also about feeling:

💚 Included

💚 Valued

💚 Connected

💚 Part of something

Did you know?

🍀 Feeling socially connected can help reduce stress and support heart health

🍀 Gentle, regular movement helps keep your heart strong and steady

🍀 Laughter and shared moments can boost mood and overall wellbeing

At Streetly ACC, we don’t expect everyone to be the same. In fact, that’s the beauty of it. Different faces, different stories, all coming together for the same reason: to feel better, move a little, and be part of a welcoming community.

So today, whether you’re celebrating with a splash of green, enjoying time with others, or simply taking a quiet moment for yourself…

Remember… you don’t have to blend into the crowd.

You’re allowed to be your own four-leaf clover. 🍀

And your heart will thank you for every step you take to look after it… in your own way, at your own pace.

Wishing you a happy, healthy St Patrick’s Day filled with a little luck, a lot of warmth, and plenty of reasons to smile.

❤️ Did you know your heart beats about 100,000 times every single day? ❤️

That’s around 35 million beats a year, quietly keeping everything going without asking for much in return.

Now that we’re well into March and spring is starting to wake up around us, it’s the perfect moment to pause and think about the one thing that works for us every second of every day… our heart.

And here are a few little facts that might surprise you:

❤️ Your heart pumps around 7,500 litres of blood every day

🚶 Just 30-60 minutes of gentle movement can significantly support heart health

🙂 Positive social connections can help lower stress and blood pressure

😂 Laughter really can help improve circulation and boost mood

🌞 Longer daylight hours naturally encourage us to move more and feel more energised

Spring is often when people start to feel that little spark again, the lighter mornings, the brighter evenings, the sense that winter is slowly stepping aside.

And sometimes looking after your heart doesn’t mean doing anything dramatic.

It might simply mean:

• Getting out of the house

• Moving a little more

• Seeing friendly faces

• Sharing a laugh or two

• Being part of a community

That’s exactly what Streetly ACC has been about for over 40 years, gentle movement, strong hearts, and great company.

So as we move through March and the days keep getting brighter, maybe ask yourself a simple question:

What small thing could I do this week that my heart would thank me for? ❤️

Sometimes the smallest steps make the biggest difference. Come and visit us: Blackwood Methodist Church, B74 3PL, Thursday 7-8pm.
