Good luck girls! Incredibly proud of our u9 girls achievements!

You go, girls! 👏👏

We’re no strangers to top female football stars here in Wigan Borough, and it looks like we could have some future Ella Toones on our hands over at Hindley Green FC too. ⚽✨

Last year, the club's Under 8s Girls marked their very first season in the Manchester Youth Super League by getting all the way to the League Cup Final.

While the final itself didn’t go their way (a narrow 2-1 defeat), it was a fabulous achievement competing against boys their own age and led to them being recognised as a Finalist at our Be Well Wigan Believe Sports Awards. 🙌

Well, this year as Under 9s they’re at it again…

Just like last season, they’ve reached the final without losing a match in the group stages and are now hoping to go one better and lift the cup! 🏆

This time they’ll be taking on Prestwich United U9s Dragons at Fleetwood Town’s Poolfoot Farm training base on Saturday 30 May.

Chris Plimley, a coach and committee member at the club, said: “We’re hugely proud of what the girls have achieved together. 😊

“They’re a great group of dedicated footballers competing and the only all-girls side in their division.

“We’re incredibly proud of them reaching the champions final for a second year in a row, without losing a game. We’re hoping this year they can go one step further and win the trophy!”

Congratulations to the girls on making yet another final, and good luck for the big decider next month. 🤞

Huge thanks to Liverpool Feds WFC for inviting our under 9 girls team down to be mascots in their FA Cup game against Boldmere St. Michael’s.
The girls had a fantastic experience, thank you to the team and to everybody involved for giving our girls such a great day and Good luck for the rest of your FA Cup campaign.

Well done to our last seasons u8 girls for getting 3rd place in the 2025 Wigan be well team of the year award.

Our u9s Girls team have been nominated for team of the year at the 2025 Be Well Wigan awards tomorrow. What an honour it is to be nominated alongside some truly great teams but a testament to how hard the girls worked last season. Good Luck!🤞 👏
