What people don’t see when they look at this frame: I was rejected by 4 academies between the ages of 8 and 11.

Four times someone told me I wasn’t good enough. Four times I could’ve believed them.

If you’re a young player reading this and you’ve just been let go, or you didn’t make the squad, or a scout said no, I promise you, that moment doesn’t define where you end up. It’s just one opinion, on one day, at one age.

Keep turning up. Keep working when no one’s watching. Your yes is still out there.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT🔴⚽️

When Caitlin first came to me for 1-2-1s, she had two clear goals: Be offered a place in her desired JPL team and make Sussex Schools.

She’s done both. 🏆

What stands out isn’t just the end result, it’s what she brings every single session. Works her socks off, takes on board information given, and actually produces it on the pitch. That’s the bit most players miss.

And even now she’s hit those goals, she’s not letting up! Training right through the summer so she hits the ground running when next season starts. That’s exactly why she’ll keep on succeeding.

Proud coach doesn’t even cover it. This is just the start for Caitlin. Watch this space👏

1,240 DAYS. ⚽️

After an ACL injury, countless setbacks, years of training alone with no physio and some of the lowest moments of my life, I DONE IT.

There were times family and friends told me maybe it’s best I gave it up. But I didn’t need to prove anything to anyone else.

I just had to prove it to myself.

The mental resilience I’ve built over the last 1,240 days is something I’ll take with me forever. Every early morning, every late night, every crippling low… all forgotten the moment I stepped back onto that pitch.

The biggest positive from this journey was creating while I couldn’t play. Helping the next generation through my experiences kept me in football and gave me another reason to keep going. So to all the players and parents thank you for the trust and the support it truly means the world.

If you want something badly enough, you’ll find a way.

1,240 days later… I’m back.

So I had the pleasure of having this cheeky young man in at ProEdge for a few sessions.

He doesn’t understand how special this was for me, his mum Kirsty was instrumental in my journey to becoming a professional footballer.

Everyone praises coaches for a players development and rightly so. But it’s the people like Kirsty behind the scenes arranging, sorting and caring who hold it all together. As a young lad I didn’t quite understand how lucky I was, so now it was my turn to return the favour.

Kirsty was a real mum figure at Southampton back in the day, and she’s looked after some of the best players who’ve come through the Southampton academy. To now have the opportunity to coach her son? Full circle doesn’t quite cover it.
