Rider highlight!

Tom Hughes has been proving he is one of the strongest juniors in Ireland the past few weeks.

Recently Tom has raced exceptionally at big international events; several hard Belgium Kermesses, the Junior Tour of Mendips in England and recently the Junior Tour of Wales. He has been on and fighting for the win and podiums every time he has pinned a number on.

The progression Tom has made this year is nothing short of amazing. He has showed up for every session, showed up for every race and grafted as hard as anyone I know.

Tom has a handful of races left this year before a bit of rest, he gets back into school work and in a few weeks the hard work for next season begins.

Chapeau Tom 👏 Keep Grafting.

‘We live in a culture where the one who shouts the loudest gets the most attention.’

My priority is on my athletes. Everything else is secondary.
Together we focus not only on the training plan, we focus on how to go as fast as possible with the level you currently have.
How do you teach riders to think while their heart rate is 180beats+?
How do you save energy in a race while remaining in the group?
There are thousands of questions that I tackle with my riders everyday.
DM me any of your racing or general cycling questions and I’d be more than happy to answer them!

Two deserved rider highlights for their stellar Saturday performance yesterday!

John won the bunch sprint to open his account for the 2026 race season and Tom Hughes, a first year junior, beat some of the country’s best senior riders to get 🥈 in Meath!
We’ve have many other riders put in some huge performances over the past two weekends, crushing power numbers and previous best race placings.

A super tough edition of the Des Hanlon yesterday due to the weather saw both and coach take the win in the C2 and C1 races.

Tom may well be having the best start to a first year junior season we’ve seen in Ireland in a few years! 👏

We had a handful of other riders put in some very respectable and strong rides and tops 10s after such atrocious conditions for racing.

Excellent work by Cycling Leinster 🙌

I am opening the coaching roster up to a few more riders for the next two week.
After an extremely successful opening 3 weeks to the season for my riders, clocking up 7 wins already, we are looking to build momentum and create meaningful development.
Through real world knowledge of the true demands of racing all over the world I have been able to decipher what actually matters, when it comes to going fast on a bike.
I only coach a select number of riders currently who truly care about their performance and wellbeing. If you think this is you drop me a message.

Recent stats:
3 first year junior riders up to C2 in three weeks.
1 rider straight from junior to first pro race!
8 podium finishes in 3 weekends racing!
Thresholds adjusted nearly every week this year!
