We just learned the sad news of the passing of Imelda Scally, a famous oarswoman in our club.
Imelda was a member of the famous Ladies 4+ that won in Nottingham in the late 70's.

Her brother Vincent also coached Mens crews in the late 70s, early 80s.

Our condolences to Imeldas family at this sad time

And so season 2026 comes to a close. After a stop-start season of cancellations, our crews travelled to Cork with mixed expectations but confident in their training and abilities.

Overall the club came away with possibly a record number of 6 podium finishes for the club, all delivered by our Ladies Junior Squads.

🥇WJ16 8+ - dominated from start to finish in on of the performances of the Championships
🥈WJ18 8+ - with the majority of the crew Junior next year, a very positive result
🥈WJ18 4- - with three J16 athletes in the boat, a fantastic performance
🥈WJ16 4X+ - solid Silver medal, considering not a huge amount of sculling all year
🥈WJ16 4+ - strong race to deliver another Silver
🥉WJ182- - won by two J16s in the squad

The boys had strong near miss performances, and have learned alot from their races that'll stand to them. All of whom are Junior next year and the following year.

We need to thank all our super coaches, and volunteers for looking after the crews all year, giving up their time to guide the next generation; to our Club Captain Mike Gaffney for leading the rowing effort; to our super team of parents for always being their to support and back us all at regatta, events, fundraising.

Our attention now turns to the Home Internationals in 2 weeks time where 4 of our athletes, Laura Carolan, Carragh Coffey, Beatrice Kelly, Lilly Coutourier, along with coaches Noel Stapleton and Tom Elwood, will represent Ireland and the Club at London Docklands. Good luck to you all in your training camp over the next week.

T -2 Days:

So now, the culmination of season 2026 is upon us, Irish Championships 2026.

The coaches are almost finished, the hard work is done, the crews are ready, the parents are anxious, let the games begin. After a topsy turvy year of near misses, lots of cancellations, some glorious weather and lots of prayers we're ready for the road to the NRC.

Below are the times for club crews racing, timetable for live updates and a link to Youtube channel for the live bradcast each day.

Tune in, send on best wishes to all our young athletes, many of whom are Junior for the next 2 years, so the future is bright. But lets go do some damage this year.
Best of luck also to regatta secretary Emer Garvey, with help from Rachel Ennis, and Championships treasurer Robbie Canavan.

Many thanks to all our great sponsors who helped us over the year to get to where we are. We truly apprecaite your help.

Today we hosted a special Pizza Party for our J14/15 boys and girls, to close out their year, albeit in bittersweet fashion.
With their All Ireland 1K Classic cancelled sue to weather, the squads kept training all week in the hope of it being rescheduled. That is now looking unlikely so as a way of thanks to the crews we had a little get together.
Many thanks to their coaches Simon, Aidan, Mike, John, Mike and the many parents who helped during the year.... thanks to everyone who helped make their year a success. Here's to next year. Enjoy the break everyone.

What a difference a week can make.

This time last week we were basking in the sun at the NRC at Cork regatta. That weekend (we know we're late with the update) provided much needed, invaluable racing for our J18 Boys and Girls. Each event on Saturday and Sunday were contested well by our crews, with strong rows for the MJ184s and Club and J16 1Xs. Our ladies crews also competed well, winning the J184- and J178+, with further strong performances in the J182-. Overall a positive weekend.

This weekend our Masters, J15, J14 athletes were to be competing at the 1k Classic, the All Irelands for these groups raced over 1000m, but due to bad winds it had to be cancelled, heart breaking for all the young people training all year. Unbelievable considering the heat wave earlier this week.

But on a very positive note, we heard late this week, that our former PR2 1X World Champion, Katie O'Brien has returned to international action, this time in the PR11X, at the World Cup III in Lucerne. Katie goes tomorrow in her final. We all wish her well in Switzerland.

The countdown to the Big Pot is on, weekend July 10/11/12th at the NRC.
