🔴⚫ U15 Division 1 League Champions 🔴⚫
Tralee Dynamos 1-3 Mastergeeha
⚽️⚽️⚽️ Anna Lenihan
Our fantastic U15 girls were crowned Division 1 League Champions after securing a crucial and hard fought victory away to Tralee Dynamos on Wednesday evening.
Having lost to the same opponents only a few weeks ago, the girls knew they would have to significantly raise their performance levels this time around. Playing against a strong wind in the opening half, they suffered an early setback when Dynamos struck with an excellent goal.
The girls in red and black dug deep, absorbed sustained pressure and continued to threaten on the break. One such counter attack resulted in captain Anna Lenihan being fouled in the box, earning Mastergeeha a penalty. Anna stepped up confidently and coolly slotted home to level the game at 1-1.
That was the way it stayed at half time.
With the breeze now at their backs and knowing only a win would secure the title, Mastergeeha started the second half strongly. It wasn’t long before captain Anna Lenihan struck again, producing a brilliant dribble through the defence before finishing excellently to make it 2-1.
Now full of confidence and momentum, the girls pushed on and Anna completed a superb hat-trick with another excellent finish to put Mastergeeha firmly in control.
Dynamos threw everything at the girls in the closing 15 minutes, but the Mastergeeha defence stood tall and showed tremendous determination to protect the lead.
In goal, Melissa O’Connor had a tremendous game and made some vital saves throughout. In defence, Michelle Doolan, Isla Cronin and Evie Guerin were simply unbreakable. Midfielders Ava Brosnan, Lily O’Leary, Anabelle Casey, Chloe O’Sullivan and Sophie Moynihan worked tirelessly throughout, while up front captain Anna Lenihan, Ella Kate Piggott and Julia Casey were brilliant all evening. The entire squad were also ably supported from the sidelines by the injured Lucy McCarthy.
The final whistle was greeted with huge roars from the large travelling Mastergeeha support as captain Anna Lenihan lifted the league trophy on behalf of her teammates.
A superb finish to the season for this outstanding group of players.
Thanks to Tralee Dynamos for a great sporting contest and to Tom O’Sullivan for officiating.
The victory also brings the curtain down on a remarkable season for girls soccer in Mastergeeha, with an incredible haul of silverware achieved across all age groups — a testament to the huge work being done throughout the club and the fantastic talent coming through the club.

🔴⚫ U14 Eve O’Callaghan Cup Final 🔴⚫
Mastergeeha 3-1 Killarney Athletic
⚽️ Àine Herlihy
⚽️⚽️ Mia Doherty
Sun drenched Kilbrean Park played host to the cup final on Sunday evening as the top two teams in the league went head to head once again, this time with silverware on the line.
There was a huge crowd in attendance to witness a top quality match between two excellent sides.
The girls in red and black started on the front foot and were rewarded midway through the first half. A quickly taken throw from Ruby Moynihan was won by Isla Cronin, who played a superb through ball to Àine Herlihy. Àine burst through on goal and blasted a low finish into the corner of the net to give Mastergeeha the lead.
That was the way it stayed until half time.
The second half started at a frantic pace and Mia Doherty — who had earlier started in goal — cut in from the left after a brilliant run before producing a cracking finish to make it 2-0.
Athletic responded strongly and put Mastergeeha under sustained pressure for a spell which resulted in a well taken goal to narrow the gap to 2-1.
Game on — and it was nip and tuck thereafter before Mia Doherty struck again with a thunderbolt finish to the top corner that would not have looked out of place at the Aviva Stadium.
The girls in red and black saw the game out superbly and captain Megan Murphy collected the Eve O’Callaghan Cup from Eve’s dad after the final whistle.
All of the girls were absolutely superb, with Laura Breen receiving Girl of the Match for a tremendous display in defence.
Thanks to Killarney Athletic for, as always, a sporting and hugely competitive game. The contests between these two sides all season have been played in a fantastic spirit and we are sure our paths will cross again next season.
Thanks also to Tom Kerrisk and his supporting linesmen on the night, as well as our brilliant support both in Kilbrean Park and throughout the season.
A special word of thanks also to the ladies in the clubhouse for the fantastic food afterwards.
The victory completed a remarkable league and cup double for this hugely talented group of girls, coming on the back of a treble only a couple of seasons ago. The future is incredibly bright for girls soccer in Mastergeeha, with the U12s securing a league and cup double, the U13s winning their cup, and the U15s still firmly in contention for league honours.
