Gazing Berlin
a workshop of improvised movement and non-performance-performance in public

——————
This event is happening in Berlin!
——————

The more you look, the more there is to see.

Looking directly into the sun I burn my retina.
Flooded with white light it continues to burn
and burn bright and from this
a kaleidoscope of colour
fills my closed-eye sight.

How is it to be so wooden and so stiff and so straight?

All you need is curiosity.
How can I allow the outer world to pass through me?
From the visual to the somatosensory system.

——————
What you can expect is an imaginary journey, movement explorations, gazing research.
Bits of scientific knowledge to feed the curious minds and bodily explorations of different sorts.

We will co-create a space where all minds and bodies are welcome to explore, share, misunderstand, follow curiosities and have fun, or not.

Open to all, no matter the previous experiences or physical preparation.

——————
General schedule

Saturday 1 - 5pm a movement workshop in a studio space
Sunday 1 - 5pm a museum visit, researching practices in a public space

——————
Accessibility

Unfortunately, the studio space has stairs and no elevator.

A dance that ferments…

“We really enjoyed travelling to Gaia Terra, Italy, together with eight of our learners. It was fantastic to witness their learning development and active engagement with the hosting organisation. We particularly enjoyed the peer-to-peer learning aspects between volunteers, learners, teachers, and accompanying staff. We’re impressed by the fermentation score booklet we created collectively, and how it allowed for a synergetic learning environment to emerge. We look forward to a continuous collaboration!”

Reflection accompanying staff for Group Mobility to Gaia Terra, Italy, August 2026

Check out our reflect-toolkit (link in bio) to read and test the fermentation dance score, and join our ongoing classes at Dansverkstæðið (:

Dear Community,

We are closing this year with a lot of satisfaction and gratitude.

Gratitude towards our beautiful dance enthusiasts community,
the project partners from Iceland and abroad,
festivals and cultural institutions that gave us a platform to show our creations,
and towards funding institutions that have been supporting our work!

In the year 2025, we have been

hosting learning spaces, jam sessions, and experimental laboratories,
developing performances with participants of workshops,
dreaming together what 2026 should look like,
educating ourselves as facilitators and
researching new ideas for performing improvisation on stage.

We also recently finalised the European project L.E.A.F.: Learning through ecological art forms that brought us many new perspectives and inspiring encounters! Hugs to all who were involved in any way 🙂

And special thank you note to .gretars who has been an amazing supportive friend to our collective since the beginning. You rock !

All in all with this post we want to say thank you to everyone we have met on the way.
We celebrate you ❤

OPEN CALL
for performers

We will perform “Audio Walk for Seashores” again for on the 31st of August.

We are looking for performers who will follow simple improvisational scores along the route of the walk.

The scores will touch on the subjects of rest, resistance, connectivity, ecosystems.

It is a result of our community project L.E.A.F.: learning through ecological art forms.
It is an unpaid performance and we welcome both experienced and inexperienced improv enthusiasts 🙂

We will organise rehearsals for the scores and for the performance walk every Monday of August 18:30-20:30. You don’t need to participate in all of the rehearsals but it is recommended to take part in at least two of them to feel secure on the performance day. We will also have a general rehearsal together before the actual performance so the whole group can practice the flow together before performing.
